That lamb looks great! I love lamb and smoke it, grill it etc frequently. Congratulations on discovering a new dish that you enjoy. My motto has always been "I'll try any dish Twice" if I didn't like it the first time it might have been poorly prepared.

I've done a cabbage as follows, I don't know if this is the same method though.
crumple tinfoil to make aring to support the cabbage
core the cabbage and place in the ring with hollowed out core up
cook several slices of bacon
fill core with chopped onionand garlic and the bacon and bbq sauce...
Yes season it first so that you don't get that metalic taste. However you could try putting a can of spam or somthing similar in and if it does not come out tasty...no great loss.
I used to own a tropical fish and aquarium store and coconut charcoal was often used for filtering aquarium water. It was some of the best charcoal for that purpose close to activated carbon.

I have used hickory nuts. We had several hickory trees in the yard when I lived outside of Atlanta. The hulls do give abitter taste but the shell and nut meat were fine.

Saw your post and went to the sight and ordered me one. My GOSM works fine except for the starter, but I have to keep it out in the back of the yard. With an electric I can but it on the deck with my outdoor kitchen. Out of the rain, much more confienent etc. Thanks for the tip.
