    A Weekend from Hell

Hey Ron , I was feeling a bit blue because on my trip home from a 4 day camping trip Way way back in the hills last Wednesday nite my Motor-home died. Luckily it died just as I pulled into the Canada Tire Store parking lot right in front of their service bay and I was able to coast it right in...

    Which butt do you prefer?

The one on Shakira or perhaps Jen Annison. For smoking meat purposes bone in for flavour.

    Rattle Snake

You have to be careful now a days about rattlers. They used to be everyones target for extermination. Now the highways and byway roads have decimated their numbers in lots of areas so that they have almost dissapeared in some spots. As a result many areas have restricted the killing of them. In...

    Hi from Canada

Hi I am out here in BC. I have been on this forum for a couple years now and in all that time I have not really seen any commercial smokers made here in Canada. There are Tons of them made in the States, just not any up here. The smoking craze is finally moving north across the 49th parallel but...

    What is EVOO, anyway?

The first cold pressing of the olives is EVOO it has a lower smoke point and should be reserved for salads and eating fresh. The next pressing is VOO, Virgin Olive Oil which has a higher smoke point making it better for frying. EVOO is not lighter than virgin olive oil. Unless either one has...

    *Official* Easter ham thread

I just get a small pre-cooked ham At The wholesale store. I then cut cross hatch slices in it about 1/2 inch deep all round. I smoke it for a couple hours at 220f with Apple and Cherry wood then spritz a mix of Maple syrup smoke for another hour or so. Right at the end I make a demerara sugar (...

Remember your first attempt at smoking?

I almost hate to tell you this but my first smoke turned out wonderfully. It was under the watchful eye of an elderly native gentleman in the Queen Charlotte islands. He showed me how to make a really nice brine for some Pink salmon I had caught. We cut them up in large chunks and placed them on...

    Rough Draft of the Logo..

I like it but the Hat has to go and You should Kill the piggy for the ladies I suppose. But something about it bothers me a lot. Its Probably because my Grand dad had a real one and treasured it very highly. The use of the Claymore over the flame . It is a true fighting sword and all I can...

    Introducing "KILLER"

He is sure a cutie! Won't break the bank feeding him either. I have the exact same monitor ACER 24 " I find it too wide so I drop it down to 20 " with a 2 inch black line on either side of it. It is a wonderful product and I have no complaints about it at all. Wasn't too expensive either.

First competition and came in 8th overall !!

I love that smoker , man that thing is huge, did you make that yourself? I had to laugh when I saw that huge smoker and realized you were in the backyard smoker division. That thing would have a hard time fitting in my back yard. To meet Johnny Triggs must have been the icing on the cake.

    First car.....

1955 Volkswagon. It cost me $60.00 and was missing the driver door when I got it. I picked up a door at the auto wrecker for a buck. It was ok on the flat but on a hill you were in first gear and 10 mph was the top speed it could get. I had to drive over the cascade mountains once to get it home...

    New from SE Washington

I'd suggest you run, don't walk back to work, and see if you can score any more of those carts. If it holds steady like you say rock steady all the way up to 300f then you have the perfect combo for a smoker. Around 230f for Low and slow and 300f for poultry is about perfect. The top vent...

How BAD ya Got it ?

I confine my Chicken smokes to my back yard and or the immediate neighbourhood where the folks there think I am a BBQ God. Thus I always get the call for my Chicken.... no Little plastic trophy to be sure but I can live with that. No sense Me trying to do a competition and having a certified...

    Ghost In My House?

I have an ancient old 200 Watt RMS Quadraphonic Stereo system that turns itself on during every thunderstorm. We have learned to unplug the amp instead of just pushing the on/off button ever since Iron Butterfly's Anna Godda da vida started up in the middle of the night at about 150 decibels...
