    When it’s windy I just leave the unit in place without turning it on. Plenty of airflow on windy days.

    I am looking at replacing both of my MES30's and picking up one of the 20072918 MES40's. is anyone familiar with this model number? I searched the forum but got 0 results. My 30's are the 20070910 gen 1 which makes me thing this is also a Gen 1 40 (all black no window). Any help appreciated.

    Dang, briskets are hard for me!

    I very rarely foil briskets unless I have a request for a specific flavor such as jalapeno jelly or dr. pepper which are great foiling sauces. I prefer the old method of meat, rub, and smoke.     In my opinion, its about what your end goal is. I did a 17 lb. one last weekend for a work event and the primary request was burnt ends. I trim fat cap to around 1/2"-5/8", cut in half, rub generously, and smoke at 225 in an old MES30 gen1 until IT hits 200-205. Hell, I have even hit 210 before...

    Extended Warranties for MES-what would you do?

    One of my MES30's failed, and I had the asurion warranty from Walmart. They didnt want to ship it, and issued me a full refund of purchase price, including tax, on a visa e-gift card . 2.5 years old, i say you cant beat that for 20 bucks.
