Need to buy my first serious smoker

If you want a smoker to not babysit I’d suggest a WSM. I think offsets are cool but I have never heard of one that doesn’t require constant attention

New member....long time smoker. Need some advice.

Obviously it’s higher on the cost spectrum but the new Weber smoke fire could be the perfect answer for you as they did design it with the ability to sear and not just smoke. I really want one but as I already have a WSM and a kettle it’d then be competing against a propane and I’d have to...

Super Bowl wings prepped on my kettle

Thanks. The handles were actually from eBay after finding the same seller on Etsy. They’re white oak and we’re only $11 a piece but seem to be sold out right now. I’d anticipate as the weather warms up more will be posted

Super Bowl wings prepped on my kettle

So thanks to the folks over at TVWBB I was able to find the missing piece to my 96 MT that I restored. With the thermometer shroud installed I was motivated to try out some wings. I did some debating between the vortex or char baskets and decided that $20 was better than $50. Today I fired it...

    Help with mini smoker

Brinkmann went under so they're harder to find as they were never built to last and required quite a few mods to run them decent. I started on one and i took a 2 year break because it was such a pain. If he can afford it i'd recommend the WSM 14.5". it's about the size of the brinkman but...

Locking nut on outside of kettle lid safe?

So on my kettle the handle was held on by pop rivets which were broken. I drilled them out so I could reattach the handle via some small stainless bolts. I have a 96 master touch which has the thermometer going on at an angle and it was bumping up against the Bolt. I inverted it to fix it but...

Locking nut on outside of kettle lid safe?

Long story short I have a kettle I’ve restored with wing nuts inside the lid. However, with me finally finding the thermometer shroud, the thermometer can’t sit fully in place as it bumps up against the wing nut. I’m wondering if I inverted the setup so the bolt head was inside if it’d then...

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

I think you're right. I never bought into the weber name until recently but i just got tired of stuff wearing out after a few years. I really wish someone would invest in their products durability for once instead of profit margin to give weber a run for their money again.

Ready to give up - change my mind

I guess i'd be wondering with smoking what do you want the most that lead you to propane. Do you want convenience of set a temp and forget it, is there a specific fuel type you prefer etc. Personally I'm not an electric fan. I committed to a WSM and i'll be honest, i chased temps for the first 2...

New to smoking and smoker and having problems

I should actually list mine for sale. I bought it years ago but have never used it once since I just committed to a charcoal smoker.

    Dyna Glo vertical smoker mods

I always find mods cool, but I also always wonder why some of these companies don't just want to try to sell a better version in the first place. I mean i get it's always a balance of performance vs price but its' not like weber struggles to get ppl to commit to their pricing.

    Vortex vs knock offs?

Thanks for the input everyone. I actually changed direction and with with the weber char baskets for now as they were $20 vs $40 and my kettle hasn't gotten nearly enough use for me to justify another $40 item that might get used twice a year. I do hope to start using that more than the gas...

    Thermometer

I switched to a inkbird ibt-4xs, although I only bought the 2 probe option. It's perfect for my needs and I love that I can check it from the house on my phone versus my other option where I had to physically go out to check the screen. I also used it in light rain, all i had to do was throw it...

    Has the ECB Group died?

Well I did ditch mine to my neighbor who’s been using it a ton which makes me happy. I will say I do kinda wish someone brought the products back. They were a great deal at $40

    Looking for a smoker

Another vote for a WSM at that price point. My only regret is that I didn’t get mine sooner

Gameday wings - smoker vs grill?

Any clue if i cooked to temp on the smoker, and then we re-heated around game time in the oven and/or air fryer if that would get crispy skin? I always have issues timing it in time for the game, so i figured if they're done at noon and I'm re-heating that also helps.

    Vortex vs knock offs?

22" kettle. and yes for the kettle. My debate is sneaking wings on the WSM or doing them with a vortex on the grill while teh smoker runs separately.

Gameday wings - smoker vs grill?

I'm trying to figure out which spot to cook my wings for the superbowl (yes i'm already doing prep before the prices on meat goes up). I picked up 2 chuck roasts and a pack of wings that i trimmed up yesterday, then i stuffed it all in the chest freezer. I've noticed wings double in price the...
