I could lose some weight myself, but right now the hardest thing I did for myself is I quit smoking, Oct.6th 2012 was my last day.It is getting easier as each day goes by. Keep up on the weight loss and enjoy life and family.

I think TJohnson nailed the reason it fired up, I have a 40"MES S.S.and I put 1 hand full of chips in the chip tray the first day I used it and about blew the door off,too much wood.So now I use just a small amount of chips and no problem since then.
I have the same problem with my Brinkmann SNP Deluxe, I was also thinking of cutting a square hole and use a steel piano type hinge and 1in. wide flat stock welded on the inside of the cut to keep ashes from falling out, I just need to figure out a way to latch it closed during use.
I have a couple tubes of pizza dough that I have used for diffent varieties of Strombolie, but I like what you did with the pulled pork, I just smoked 2-8lb. pork shoulders last Sunday.Thanks for the idea.
