    I have a 40in. MES and I use a plastic credit card that is no longer in use or you could use a wooden shim. I don't use soap and water unless I absolutley have to,then i make sure I have dry rags.

    cbsuperduty, My M.E.S. 40 is I believe a 20070403 model, mine is 800 watts, but I use chips, so far I have not had any problems with the heating element I have a thick heavey duty extension cord.

    A couple of Saturday's ago I used my AMNPS for the first time, I have the MES 40in 800 watt, and pulled the chip tube out 2in. and lit the cold smoker, I came back an hour later and there was no smoke, so I relit it again per instructions and took the chip tube completely out and it stayed...

    What's your favorite type of smoker and why?

    I have the 800watt MES 40in SS, I have had it for 5-6 years and have had no problems with it,Just set the Temp, and Time and leave it alone except for adding wood chips for smoke.

    Finally got it outside!

    That smoker is sweeet, Toungue and groove boards, I have metal sheeting/roofing, Been thinking of building one next summer.
