    Need help locating supplies

I think in your area you might want to check out the local butcher shops and lockers and find out where they get their sausage making supplies. In Sioux Falls, SD the Western Locker is the first place to check and then across the street from them is a Food Service supplier that sells that kind...

    First Smoke...HELP

Welcome; I am almost as new as you with my first offset smoker. I'd say read all the threads about doing briskets and then if necessary draw up a plan. I have heard from some local Sedalia, MO smokers that thawing the brisket and getting it dry and putting rub over it and wrapping it in...

    More Military Rules

If you've had as many "Ham n' Lima Beans" in C rations made in 1943 as I have; you know the 1st Marine Corps rule in combat is 1 shot, 1 kill! I will admit some of the Marines I served with were not very academic about some things; but they were determined to destroy the enemy if possible...

    Hello All

Welcome fellow Missourian; from Sedalia, MO from another arrow slinger. You evidently know how to cut up meat. Let's smoke something? If you are into Fattys; try one with some Burger's sausage and compare that to Jimmy Dean's.

    wood for smoke'n???

Welcome; I don't know about the different types of wood so much. I just bought 10 bags of Royal Oak charcoal at Wally World to stock up some. We have lots of wood here around Sedalia, MO. Roads are not as straight as around Ft. Peck or Williston. Here some of us even burn Osage Orange or...

Need advice before I start buying the wrong stuff...

Welcome. I'd say check with a welder and you will find out that the Aluminum Keg bolted to the Steel smoker will tend to corrode at the connection point. I'd say buy a fire box from Char-Grill or have someone make one. Even a rectangular box will make a firebox. If I was making one from...

    Yet another new guy !!!!!

Welcome; you've got a bird dog? Yellow labs are OK, I guess. If you've trained your own dog to follow commands; you've got a head start on kids. If I had learned to train my Shorthairs before becoming a high school teacher; I'd been much better at teaching. Happy Smoke Rings and Blue...

    CG Outlaw Mods - Anyone?

Now that is one fine looking birddog you've got. Semper Fi. I think the same type of mods for the exhaust and sealing the door will help. I ordered my remote thermometer and probe last week and have started modifying my Silver Smoker also. I am going to clean the doors, then rub the edges...

First Fattie - Breakfast Fattie with q-view

Great job. I never thought of scrambled eggs and bacon in a Fatty. That gives me the idea of a biscuits and gravey filling on one and eggs and bacon on another for breakfast. Thank you very much. Semper Fi.

    Pork Shoulder

I'd say to be safe wear leather soled boots, or shoes that you can kick out of if you happen to stand on something so hot as to melt through the soles. I discovered this tip while teaching arc welding.

    Fatty question

Another brave smoker daring to test the rings of thin blue wisps. I agree with everyone else, go for it; get'r done! I am thinking about making a bigger fattie; because the 1 # chubs don't last. No reason a spiral wrap couldn't work great. It seems the limiting factor in this equation...
