    Starter ideas for a smoker

I guess that would depend on your definition of cheap. Obviously, many people enjoy the ECB smokers, and although I do not own one, I hear that they do a very good job once a few minor modifications are made. If you are interested in this type of smoker, do a search for ECB and you'll find tons...

What Is the Most Unusual Item You Have Smoked?

Nothing real exotic, but I do plan to try the pizza and pickled eggs. So far it has been mostly meat, but I do like the fattys and ABTs. Did a ball of mozzerella a couple of weeks ago that got snatched up pretty quick. Cowgirl... a TWINKIE? Some of you have quite an imagination.

looking for a decent vacuum sealer

I got a FoodSaver a couple years ago as a gift and it is great. I agree that you can wash and reuse the bags, but many times I just pitch them and use fresh. At first I thought the pre-cut bags were the stuff, but I have since switched to the rolls. Much more versatile for obvious reasons...

    Even newer than new...

Welcome to SMF Jay! You going to try all that at once? I don't have a GOSM so I'm not familiar with it's capacity. Looking forward to some q-view.

    Eat More Pickled Eggs!

Nope, I don't think I could do the pigs feet either. As for the eggs... I think some are just thrown into vinegar with a bit of food coloring. Could be wrong, but I do recall seeing them on the deli counter when I was a kid, but I don't remember seeing any spices flaoting around. Vinegar is...

    Eat More Pickled Eggs!

This is getting outta hand... I got home last night and the wife had poured the pepperoncini jar into a big jar of jalapenos (only a handful of slices left, but several cups of juice), and plans to boil up more eggs and add the pickle juice from empty jars. Boy, it ought to be getting real...

    Brisket Question

Yep, I agree with TX-Hunter... get the packer. I haven't tried the trimmed, but many will tell ya that there just isn't enough fat on those to keep them noist during a long smoke. Brisket is tough to understand at first (trimming, prepping, smoking, etc.), but well worth the effort. Here are...

    Gettin a Woody(burner that is)

I've never done propane, but I've got to say that there is something about walking outside early in the morning and sparking up some sticks and coals. I do enjoy this hobby... hope your woody adds to your enjoyment.

    Smoking a Frozen Pizza

The ideas never end around here... cracking me up! LOL One thread encouraged my wife and I to make pickled eggs a couple of nights ago, now it looks like I'll be having smoked pizza this weekend. This is some crazy stuff, but it sure keeps things interesting.

Newbie smoking for 50-75 this weekend

Hey, this entire thread is full of speculation as to whether this guy is even serious... I mean come on, 4th smoke and going to crank out a party on an ECB while limiting himself to 11 hours of cook/prep/delivery time? I think several of the posts did attempt to support (coach) the new guy, but...

    Missouri's newest

Columbia eh? Home of MidwayUSA and a lot of fond memories (concerts, college parties, etc.). LOL I grew up in St. Martins, just west of Jefferson City. Glad to see ya here. Stick around, you'll enjoy the company, and hopefully share a few stories with us.

    Knew B

Welcome DB! Hold on to that wallet for just a sec... you might as well do a little research first and put the $$$ towards something that you really want, and is perhaps built to last a bit longer. Assuming that you are not in the market for a high end model (thousands of $$$), there is a very...
