    I'm Confused

1965 Drive a stickshift? Hah! Nobody but ricers and tractor operators.know how to do that. My phone is just a flip phone. Funny thing is, I look at the old Star Trek episodes, and their "communicators" are basically flip phones.

    Great Outdoors Smoker

Maybe try an appliance repair place or a heating/cooling shop because they work with burners so they may have an equivalent part.

    Want a Offset Smoker - $400-$500 Budget

Ben, what you describe is almost exactly the same as my experience with the Masterbuilt offset. A good basic rig, but not great. You can play tricks with them.

Great finish on the chicken! My offset has been a table sometimes, too, for my Lodge grill.

Offset Smokers: How Do They Work?

I wanted an offset for years, looking at them with envy. Oh if I had one of those. Well now I do, with a few years of experience with it by now. I love it. There is always something new to learn or try. Or, you can reliably reproduce your favorites.

Offset Smokers: How Do They Work?

I've found three basic ways to cook with an offset: First, run a fire in the firebox. Depending on exactly what model of offset you're using, you should be able to reach 300F in the cooking chamber (Often referred to as CC). That's hot enough to cook, and too hot for some projects. Normally...

Does anyone know the origin of the basic offset design?

There are many brands and many versions, but does anyone know when/where/how the basic idea of having a firebox on the side of a barrel began?

    Want a Offset Smoker - $400-$500 Budget

I was lucky to score a basic Masterbuilt offset for $100. Not the best offset, but still a good basic configuration capable of producing good Q. I have had much fun with it. I'm halfway between the really good offsets and the really cheap offsets. Some of the cheapest are awful. Some of the...

    New to Green Egg

I admit I don't know much about the eggs. I've watched someone run one, but I wasn't close enough to see all the management. Earlier today I was in a garden store, and they had a display of eggs. I didn't know they came in so many sizes. I saw some that were much smaller than I've seen before...

Wow that is some cheap construction

I was browsing around in a big-box store that I won't name, and they had a display model of a vertical smoker whose brand i won't name. I poked around it a bit, opened doors etc. I was disappointed in the cheap construction. The thickness of the metal was comparable to that of a steel soup can...

    2019 Carolina Reapers

I haven't grown reapers yet but I did plant two red ghosts yesterday. I haven't found hab plants at the stores yet. I grew ghosts for my first time last year. I dried and ground them (OUTSIDE) and I've been using them in seasoning blends. Kind of like putting solid rocket boosters onto a...

    Weber kettle refurb.

Mine today, cooking some pork chunks, just getting started. I cut the grate in half so I could tend the fire. Three easy snips with bolt cutters. I still have the other half and I can put it back like Nothing Ever Happened. Getting a bit happy happy with the temp, I choked the vent down...

    Seagulls

Here in central Ohio we never had seagulls until the winter of 1977 or maybe 1978. Not sure but I think all the open water north of us (like Lake Erie) froze over so they came down here, and never left. They seem to do just fine for themselves in parking lots.
