7qts Polish Dill out of the waterbath. I added pickle crisp to each jar, a garlic clove, black mustard seed, peppercorns, and a little crushed red pepper to each jar.

    Cast iron brands

I have Lodge, Wagner and Griswold. Once I got the knack of seasoning them, I makes little to no difference in which brand you choose.

A couple of weeks ago I did a side-by-side between Glazier and Hofmanns. Glazier was the clear winner. Best local in my opinion.

Jar Breakage During Hot Water Bath

Pressure canned jars do not need prior sterilization. The same is true for water bath canning if the processing time at a full boil is >=10 minutes at sea level. I run my jars through the dishwasher prior to using, but no actual sterilization processing. I do warm the jars prior to adding...

    Pickle Time

I never used Mrs. Wages vinegar, just their brine packets. The Kosher Dills is made were too salty/sour, so I ended up adding white sugar.

    Ribs: Charcoal Snake

Have a rack of baby backs I'm getting ready to cook. Plan on using a snake, 2 coals on the bottom, one on top with apple woods chips/chunks spaced throughout. I have only done this once a few years ago. They turned out good, but I can't remember the top and bottom vent positions I used. Tips?

Hot Dogs: Side by side comparison

Grilled some Hoffmans and some Glaziers for the 4th of July. Both on a roll with hot mustard, dill relish and horseradish. The Glaziers took first place, with 100%(2/2) voters choosing them over the Hoffmans! I really do like the Glaziers. Glazier on top.
