    I guess I got lucky. I put a phillips screwdriver where each bolt hole would be & gave it a couple smacks with a hammer & popped the knockout right out.

    Sounds like the Minion method. That's what I do in my offset. Unllit coals into the tray then about 1/3 chimney lit on top, on the smoke chamber side.

    Should be open football shaped hole between sfb & smoke chamber. Dryer hose should be 3".

    My father-in-law brought me the branches he had trimmed from his apple trees to use in my smoker. Do you remove the bark or leave it on? I know I'm not going to use it until after it seasons.

    I always put about 8 or 9 lumps of coal into the 8" cake pan I use for the smoke box, adds another dimension of flavor. I always soaked my chips for an hour before I put them in with the preheated coal. I always filled my water pan because the temps were hard to get leveled out with it empty.
