Tri Tip- didn't go as planned! quite...

Agree with following the slicing technique. But when you get that right, you'll be treated to a cut as tender and flavorful as any tenderloin I've had.

Oh, man. I can almost smell it through the screen!

Ok, ruined smoked chuck roast has become a very good stew. Next time I'll try something that doesn't take as long. As long as there are no more power outages.

    What she really wanted...

That looks so good. I really miss fresh shrimp. We used to have about a 2-week season on Spot Shrimp here in Puget Sound. I'd go down to the docks here in Everett and buy it right off the boats. Then they cut it back to 1 or 2 days, and it isn't worthwhile for the fishermen to catch them anymore.

    Shrimp Cocktail

I know they weren't gourmet, but I miss the days of $1 shrimp cocktails in Las Vegas.

I recall leaving mine in for an extra 5-10 minutes or so.

What do you put on your basic hotdog mustard or ketchup?

For basic, I would go with some sort of specialty mustard. But even French's will do in a pinch. My usual is mustard & chopped onions. But I'm surprised nobody posted this yet. And I agree with it, 100%.

    First American Wagyu Brisket

Interesting technique, but it sounds like it worked. Congrats!

What in the Sweet Baby Jesus is going on? Meat prices.

Haven't seen one of those guys for quite a while. Most likely ungraded meat, and 1/4" thick steaks.

The crockpot is a good idea, thanks! I'll just have to sift through about 30 boxes to find it. Still no oven yet. Hopefully by Oct 10th the kitchen remodel should be done.

And then, disaster struck. Building had a power outage for several hours. Our PUD said it was planned, but they forgot to inform anyone in the building. Roast had only gotten to 157° when it happened. All I could do was wrap it in foil, place in a cooler, and hope for the best. Power came back...

A few pics of my happy place, Puerto Vallarta MX. Been there at least a dozen times, and I still love it.

I'm at home today, cabinets just came in. 26 big boxes worth. They say they're sending out a guy to install on Monday. :emoji_sweat: Meanwhile, I couldn't wait any longer, so the chuckie went on about 2 hours ago. Rubbed with Meatchurch Holy Voodoo.

I saw tri-tip on "sale" here recently for $11.99 lb. Sale price used to be $5.99.

    Fun home owner stuff. Sprinklers.

Reminds me of when I built my commercial fridge smoker. I lost count of how many trips I made to the hardware store. (I actually used a lot of plumbing supplies in it.) We have a small, local chain of old-school hardware stores called McClendon's. Unlike Lowe's & Home Depot, it's staffed by a...

    The great burger toppings debate

In the pre-internet days, my best friend and I had an argument about that song. He swore that I was making it up, that it didn't exist, and I didn't have a 45 to prove that it did. Eventually, it came on the radio, and he had to submit.

I called RT about the wifi, and got a "Call back during business hours" message. I didn't leave a message, but they called me back the next day anyway. I was transferred to their IT people, and we got it sorted out in a couple minutes. Fantastic customer service! BTW, I like the horns. They're...
