Who roasts their own coffee on their BBQ or Grill?

Pour-over brewed my first cup today of the coffee I roasted on Monday; a 96 hour rest. WHY DID I EVER TAKE A YEAR OFF FROM ROASTING COFFEE? This cup was rich, complex, layered, and SOOOO much better than what I've been drinking. I literally OMG'd after every sip. Lesson re-learned. Ray

Who roasts their own coffee on their BBQ or Grill?

Resurrecting an old thread. I took 2024 off from roasting because it was almost cheaper to buy roasted coffee from WinCo than it was to roast my own. Yeah, the flavor wasn't the same, but it saved time and effort. Well, guess what? That's no longer the case. Roasted whole bean coffee was...

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

My wife still works from home, so she needs quick lunches on some days. I picked her up eggs bites at Costco recently. $8.95 for 8 rather flavorless egg bites. She barely likes them, but liked the convenience. She ate the last two yesterday and asked me if I could make her some in the sous vide...

    Sous Vide Tri-tip

It was like 3.8 lbs before trimming, but this one required very little trim. The one I stuck in the freezer was also just under 4 lbs but had a lot of hard fat on it that I trimmed off.

    Sous Vide Tri-tip

I need to kick my own butt for resisting sous vide for so long. This Select grade tri tip is incredibly tender and juicy. Thanks for the inspiration, LoydB!

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

My local Costco has been out of eggs the last couple of times I've been by to check in the afternoon/evening. This morning they were fully stocked. 24 pasture-raised, brown-shelled eggs were $8.69, or $4.35/dozen. I picked up two packages. The local grocery stores where I shop, WinCo and Trader...

    Sous Vide Tri-tip

I know this is an older thread, but wow. Mouth-watering pics, LoydB! WinCo had "no grade indicated," untrimmed Tri Tips on sale a couple of days ago for $3.18/lb (I suspect they are Select grade). I picked up two. Seasoned with MSS and vac-sealed both. Stuck one in the freezer. Put the other in...

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

I can't post the YouTube link due to site limitations, but if anyone is interested, do a search for "bird flu and gain-of-function." You'll understand immediately why egg prices are so high. Ray

Exploring Low Carb, Healthy Fat, Moderate Protein Diet - Not Keto Quite Yet

It took me a while to adjust my diet and eating habits to lower carbs, moderate protein, higher healthy fat, but my here's my latest blood glucose test after 3 2/3's months of Intermittent fasting (12‐20 hours/day, 15.5 average) and mostly keto diet of 60 net carbs average/day. Zero meds. Light...

Hexclad Pan Review, Real World Real Time - Lots of Pictures!

My wife just fried 3 eggs in the 8" Henckels hybrid. She's had to learn to use more butter than she has in the past, and use a short pre-heat (30 secs), but fried eggs slide right out. Here's the 8" she just used. Ray

Hexclad Pan Review, Real World Real Time - Lots of Pictures!

I started moving to stainless steel and carbon steel pans a while ago. My wife prefers non-stick because she had hit/miss results with both. I got her a set of Henckels Hydrid pans ($80 @ Costco for an 8-10-12 inch set), which are slightly thinner than the Hexclad. So far I'm impressed. Less...

    Awesome rib eye

Well, I gotta admit, those were the most tender Select grade rib eyes I've tasted. My wife loved them, and has said thank you several times because she has some chewing issues eating whole muscle cuts. I'm her Valentine's Day hero. I only did 2 of the 4 I bought in case my process needed...

Bought rib eyes on sale yesterday. Ordered a sous vide today using a gift card I received at Christmas. My SV resistance has been futile. Expecting great things. Ray

Exploring Low Carb, Healthy Fat, Moderate Protein Diet - Not Keto Quite Yet

Yep. That's the video that started me making reuteri yogurt last October. I eat 4-6 oz every night with a squirt of liquid Stevia. My wife adds blueberries. She eating some as I type. Yummy stuff. I made a couple batches with the wrong starter. Edible, barely. Tasted like cheese. Switched to...

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

Pricy stuff on Amazon, from Dr. Boz, and at health food stores. Keeps you in ketosis during times your body switches back to glucose for energy. For me, that's early morning into the early afternoon. I don't use "exogenous ketones" but understand they work really well to maintain ketosis round...

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

Congrats, Keith! Agree completely. I still do 2MAD, with an occasional OMAD. I'm getting more consistent with fasting 16-21 hrs a day. Getting more consistent ketone levels, too. Hey, Chris. That's just me, 4-5 daily. My wife eats 3 eggs at breakfast two to three times a week. I've skipped...
