    What are you watching ?

I've been fighting off a low grade cold/flu/whatever, so lots of TV time. Been binging Game of Thrones. It's interesting how much more I see and understand this time around. I can keep the names and families straight. First time around, it was a bit confusing.

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

Yep, 72 every 7 to 8 days. I eat 5 or 6 a day, depending what I'm adding to the pan (nothing, or sausage, or bacon, or bacon jam, veggies like onions, zucchini, squash, etc). My wife eats 4 a day. Eggs and keto are life partners. Ray

    Winco Egg-Price Ripoff!!!!

The Costco price of eggs has dropped to $2.09 / dozen as of this week. I buy 6 dozen a week while eating keto. All other prices are still up, but eggs are almost back to normal.

    Dishwasher Advice

When the third dishwasher we've bought started leaking or quit working, each lasting about 8 years (GE, Whirlpool, and Kenmore), and it became just me and my wife, I said no more dishwashers. Been handwashing dishes ever since. We have knives and pans that have to be handwashed anyway, so what...

    Game day ribs

Great looking ribs! Nice job. I picked up StL cut ribs from Costco on Friday, which is rare for me. I haven't bought ribs from them in a long time...like years. Usually I buy untrimmrd full racks from WinCo. Anyway, last I remembered, Costco sold 2-paks. To my surprise, it was a.3-pak! Said so...

Keto (or not) Bacon Onion Fruit Jam

Last batch has 1 serving left. Went to Trader Joe's yesterday and they still had fresh figs! Making a larger, new batch today. More yum coming up. Ray

    What are you watching ?

The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix. FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS! Every famous older actor from the British Isles is in it playing roles FAR outside their normal genres.

Keto (or not) Bacon Onion Fruit Jam

This morning: Scrambled eggs with ham and one serving of the bacon jam. Savory and sweet, one of my favorite combos.

Keto (or not) Bacon Onion Fruit Jam

Yep. This was probably my last fresh fig batch. When I use dried, reconstituted figs, I also use an apple. Juicy prunes work pretty good, too, but the texture is a bit different. I wasn't crazy about the reconstituted prune version. But, like I tell my wife, I eat all my mistakes.

Keto (or not) Bacon Onion Fruit Jam

Thanks! And Bummer! I grew up eating figs from family trees and the store. Such a short season, though.

Keto (or not) Bacon Onion Fruit Jam

Whew finally broke a 66-day weight loss plateau. Went to the farmer's market and saw fresh figs. Couldn't resist. Decided to make the following, a recipe I've been making for about a year. It's not an exact recipe, so it's easy to make. Keto Bacon Onion Fig or Apple Jam This make about 2...

    Strong coffee

Here's the thread when I started roasting my own coffee. My equipment has progressed from a pan and side grill on my now defunct gas grill. https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/who-roasts-their-own-coffee-on-their-bbq-or-grill.269092/

    Strong coffee

"Hold the phone. Are you telling me I can roast beans on my Blackstone?" Yep. If you've never roasted coffee, start with a 3"-4" deep saucepan or a wok (carbon or stainless steel, not Teflon or ceramic). Use 8 oz green beans. Stir constantly over medium-high heat until desired roast level...

    What are you watching ?

Yeah. For the first 3 or 4 episodes I was like "WTHeck is going on?" Then I realized they were introducing the show's character's experiences in the same time loop. I started watching it again with my wife after mansplaining what was going on. We became hooked. The show develops from there...

    What are you watching ?

The Lazarus Project on Netflix. Sci-fi series about time travel, time loops, and consequences of doing so. Well written. Strong characters. Fair acting. It's a show one must pay attention to while watching.

    Strong coffee

Super coffee nerd here. I'm not a coffee-maker user, so not much help in this discussion. I do pour-over (V60 - $10), AeroPress ($35), or Italian moka pots (cost varies based on size), which technically is a coffee maker. The moka pot will give the strongest flavors of my three brew methods...

    What are you watching ?

Adolescence on Netflix. What makes it incredible is each 50+ minute episode is shot in a single take! Consequently, the acting is incredible because no mistakes can be made by the actors. The story and plot builds in a way that grabs you. We're at the end of the 3rd episode of the 4 episode...
