Grilled up some quick burgers on the Hasty Bake

Thank you Jim! Thanks Justin! I don't have direct experience with this yet, but I watched Harry Soo smoke a brisket in his Hasty Bake Legacy using the snake method, and with the heat deflector in place over the fire. He kept it running at about 275 for the entire cook...the brisket turned...

Grilled up some quick burgers on the Hasty Bake

Thanks J! Me too! :emoji_thumbsup: Thanks W! Yum! Fajitas on the grill are the bomb! Thanks Ryan! We've had a bumper crop of tomatoes. Been eating so many tomatoes the last few weeks, I'm getting acid sores in my mouth lol! Thank you Brian! Thanks Jim! Yep definitely! It'd be a...

Grilled up some quick burgers on the Hasty Bake

Good morning Friends! Since the rack of BB ribs from a few days ago went well, I wanted the second cook on the new grill to be hot and fast searing. So we did burgers for dinner last night. Nothing earth-shattering here - just showing off the range of the new Hasty Bake. I started with a...

How Bid a Boy are ya?

Call it dumb luck if you like…but for you to quote a post I made in a nearly 6- month old thread, on the same day I go back and find that same thread is…spooky voodoo coincidence is what I call it! :emoji_wink: Mostly just yankin’ yer chain..but it is a weird coincidence. Red

How Bid a Boy are ya?

This is a little spooky Justin! I can't believe the coincidence...Just this morning, something reminded me of Phil and Brent, and their Roy D. Mercer gags. It made me remember that there'd been a thread here on the forums several months ago about the passing of Brent Douglas. I even went back...

Hasty Bake's First Run - Baby Back Ribs

Thanks Brother! I did, in fact look at that El Patron by LSG. I thought they were pretty similar in function and capacity - the El Patron has a slightly larger cooking grate, but not by much. The deciding factors for me were about 3: First, the HB retails for $600 less than the El...

Hasty Bake's First Run - Baby Back Ribs

Thanks Brother! I think it’ll be a good one. I’m most excited that it’s multipurpose. I’m really looking forward to seeing how well it grills and sears! Red

Hasty Bake's First Run - Baby Back Ribs

Thanks Jim...yes it is fun for sure! Thanks Ryan! For direct-fire cooking, it might be a challenge to maintain temps as low as 250...but I doubt it'd be impossible. Start with a smaller coal bed, and close the dampers a little more. And it'd be indirect cooking instead of direct fire, but...

Hasty Bake's First Run - Baby Back Ribs

Thanks Keith! Each arm actually has an upper and lower fork. The end of each fork attaches to the center of the basket - vertically to each other - and those attachment points each pivot. This allows the arms to go up and down while the basket itself stays level. Red

Hasty Bake's First Run - Baby Back Ribs

Here's the first cook in the new Hasty Bake. I'd done a test burn in it several days ago, just to get a rough idea on charcoal amounts, run time, temp control, etc. But today was the first cook. Just a single rack of baby backs. First off, @SmokinEdge had asked in another thread about the...

Hasty Bake Legacy 131 Has Arrived!

Ah Peoria Ridge! Played there a few times, but not in a long time. Last time was maybe 15 years ago. Hey happy birthday neighbor! I hadn't planned on taking requests...but any SMF brother is welcome to pull up a chair! :emoji_wink: I'm planning a rack of BB ribs...but that's probably...

    Work Sharp

I was always pretty bad at knife sharpening...never could master a stone. And I tried a couple different sharpening systems that didn't work very well either. I got a WS MK.2 a couple Christmases ago, and can finally get a decent edge on my kitchen knives. Maybe not a perfect system...

Hasty Bake Legacy 131 Has Arrived!

Don't mind a bit! So there's a crank handle on the left side of the cabinet with a coarse-threaded screw extending into the cabinet. Crank that screw in, and it pushes on a ram that makes contact with a pair of hinged arms. Crank it one way and the arms go up - crank the other and the arms go...
