    Thermoworks RFX First Impressions

These two issues would be worth a call to Thermoworks. When they say to charge fully before using like all batteries and it gets to 90% max in 3 days and drops to 88% is strange if not in the manual. If the Pics on the box and manual don't match a brand new released product I'd want to know why...

Source For Obsolete MB MES 40 Heating Element

This pic doesn't match my element for the 20070311 all SS Gen 1 Mes 40 with no center hole in the mounting bracket for the grounding wire, nut and bolt. It also isn't an L bracket mounting plate. Post #2 above is correct pic. If you want to go through Amazon this is what I'd get. About $22.50...

    Massive Curing salt over dose!

Dump it and start over. 4.17lbs./half gallon water. Measure half gallons to cover meat. Add weight of meat to weight of water and convert to grams. Multiply total grams by .0025 (.25%) for grams of cure #1. If three gallons of water is needed to cover 20lbs. of meat, then that would be 51 grams...

    Thermapen Classic on sale

This is the classic. I don't know if this is even the MK4. The Thermapen One in this ad is $109.00. I wonder why the Thermapen by Electronic Temperature Instruments, Ltd in Worthing, UK has gone back to making their original that may not have the newer calibrationg function and other functions...

Use Kroger coupons and coupons from the Kroger family of stores from nation wide weekly ad digital coupons at your local Kroger

    Toggle switch

I'd probably just bypass the dial with a wire nut being two wires if you're getting a plug and play Auber. Unplug the smoker from the Auber and bring the PID inside out of the humidity when not in use.

    Auber PID not working

I remember awhile ago you mentioned you were going to do this.

    Auber PID not working

It should heat some if the element is good when the lugs to the 1,500 watt element are disconnected and reads 9.6 ohms with 120vac. The WS-1510ELPM Auber is 15 amp 1,800 watts many here use for the Mes 40 1,200 watt element that would handle your element. This controller can be on indefinitely...

    Thinking about buying a Meater

I have the IRF-4S as well. It does have a quiet alarm. Your Thermapen is made In Worthing, UK by Electronic Temperature Instruments, Ltd. And sold by their marketing arm Thermoworks. That's why if you don't buy it from Thermoworks you won't have a warranty. Thermoworks has their own good products.

Roast Beef. Cold smoke then SousVide

Follow Baldwins pasteurization chart for beef, lamb and pork in the link above. It has the math done for us based on the FDA 2009 current pasteurization chart below. It is a very high sample reduction of 3.1 million to one living Salmonella bacteria, 1,000,000 to one living Listeria bac. And...

    Auber PID not working

The controller has a max output of 12 a.mps and 1,440 watts. Is your heating element 1,500 watts?

If you're needing these items and shopping under all coupons or searching them in that zip code and tap on the coupon before clipping it, it'll show details you need to read through all the way to the end of the info, then it may say details or more details and tap on that and read through to...

Loin curing not fully submerged … safe?

Whole boneless pork loin for back bacon falls in the 2" range with pop's wet curing brine being a tender cut even though it's thicker than 2" without injecting and you're right that other thick cuts over 2" should be injected with the wet brine cure. A lot of times I don't get to my dry brine...

Loin curing not fully submerged … safe?

That's why I don't use zip locks for wet cure brine as a weight to keep submerged and use a heavy dinner plate to keep submerged in a wet curing vessel. I used POP's for a few years then went with the EQ of weighing the water to cover the meat plus the weight of the meat then .25% cure 1 and...

Step by Step Guide to Calibrate PID Settings

Your PID settings out of the box ( P=7, I=600 and D=150) is really close to the settings you discovered. Probably at 225 with your style smoker and smaller vents and the pic of your smoker in the app. With the bigger 3" vents in the Mes 40 and mailbox mod for the pellet maze it really breathes...

    Reviving a MES 30 --> PID

When using the stock chip burner as intended all models kept heat, charing the bottom right corner of the smoker and the insulation would smoke and some catch fire you could see when they took off the back of the smoker. Some can hear crunching noise from the chared insulation in the walls when...
