That is a beautiful smoker. It is so similar in concept to my homebuilt pellet burning fridge conversion. I do agree with the chef. Being insulated, they are so efficient. I looked at the specs on the DW's. They get 45 hours of heat and smoke out of 40 lbs. of pellets. That is about the...
Thanks for the link. That is a great price, the only drawback is that you have to be a AT&T wireless customer. That sux, I have Sprint. And the BS part is they still won't sell it to me even though my home phone is through AT&T.
WOW, SWEET! Love the wood siding and the longhorn outline. Mine, too, produces a fair amount of ash. I am using Lumberjack pellets. I thinking about making some sort of screen unit to install by the burner cavity to allow heat through but stop the ash from moving up in the smoker. ...
That thing is going to freaking rock! I'm pretty damn exited! Don't know why. Just am. You're gonna love it when you get this thing going. I love my Smoke Daddy in my fridge. The burner works great! I haven't had a jam up or nothing. I did have a hot rod failure when I got it, but Dennis...
I'll be interested in finding out about your discoveries from converting from charcoal to electric. I am interested in flavor profile differences, smoke characteristics and whatnot. Welcome to SMF!
If these bycycles were made by the 10's of thousands, do you think they are worth a whole lot? I don't know, I'm just asking. Ebay sellers can ask whatever they want, but if you get 0 bidders, I guess that tells the story. $1,400.00 + 200 hundred shipping? That might be a bit inflated for a...
It sounds like a pellet burning smoker works the same as your furnace. As far as damp pellets in my AMNPS, there is a lot of air flow in the smoker and I never have a problem with them going out.
Dave,
I am speaking for my Smoke Daddy pellet burner, but, the igniter rod only stays lit for a few minutes on burner start up to light the pellets. Once the pellets have ignited, the controller runs the feed auger at a predetermined time interval for a short period of time to keep just a few...
I'll tell you what. I'm lazy. If I have to do flips and twists to prepare anything, I ain't gonna do it (within reason, of course). That's just me. I like to keep things simple. Fresh butt with an apple juice/Bilbo's rub concoction to inject along with a nice coat of Bilbo's rub...
I would venture to guess there is nothing special about the rub. I am assuming it is red in color?
Just for your information, I used the recipe for Bilbo's rub and the ribs turned out awesome. Great flavor profile, although I did tweak the recipe just a bit; I halved the salt and added a...
Just thought I would post a long term update. So far, so good. I have been using it all summer, and so far no complaints. I have done quite a few overnight smokes, and it is problem free. I haven't had a jam with the feed yet. In the pictures you can see it's got a beautiful seasoning on the...
