    I just noticed something. You need to wrap your probe leads(wires) with foil. They will last a lot longer and are easier to clean

    I sear all my roast. My Mom and wife sear there roast before they cook them as well. You can always sear them in the broiler of your oven If you dont want to heat up your smoker.

    I would not inject ether. I use my own rub so the rub would be your preference. If you hold off on the rub It won't have as long to penetrate. the inner temp would be your desired doneness. opps!!! LOL
