Hey D²,
As long as were talking about essentials, I will echo the previous posts. I will also throw out for your consideration the following items and a rationale for them:
Some Bear Paws - These work great for holding large pieces of meat, and also sausage for slicing. If you want to shred a...
Hey SOB (It cracks me up every time I write that),
I have the HH 210. In fact I used that to build the Iron Maiden (Go ahead, check the post, I'll wait).
It worked flawlessly! In fact, I bought that to replace an el cheapo POS china welder that actually exploded on me. There is no comparison...
Good call Rick. Based on that, I'm kinda partial to my homemade backwoods clone. It's a real powerhouse!
Got14u is also building smokers...he's doing some really nice work too...PM him.
Remove fat cap. Smoke and rub will not penetrate the fat cap even if it is scored. Butts have enough internal fat and connective tissue to baste from inside. By removing it, you get more smoke flavor, more bark, and more pink purple smoke ring...makes a much nicer presentation in the tray...
Over half an inch thick...way surprised his trailer will hold it! I da3n sure wouldn't be getting that thing up to speed behind my truck...that is an accident waiting to happen.
I've been busy all weekend with family in town so I couldn't respond right away, but I am glad you guys are excited about the things I sent to you (and a special thank you to FedEx for getting it there in one piece!!)
It is so much fun to tear into a package that one of your BBQ buddies has...
Sircave,
Send a PM to Brian (Bmudd) or Jerry (Pineywoods) and ask them...that way they see the request and you don't have to wait for them to see this post in the hundreds that are created each day.
Hold on there gents...I have seen water pans in horizontal smokers...in fact, I designed my "Iron Maiden" so I can fill the drip pan with water if I decide to...open the valve and it all drains out. Super temperature stable if I do it that way.
Torch, If you understand the rationale for the...
Hey Sircave,
I'm sure there are a lot of reasons that the membership roster is not cleansed, but if you sort it by number of posts, you can clearly see that people with 10 posts or less start at page 80. So of the 575 pages of people that have registered, the heavy lifting is done by only a...
Hey Torch,
Given the size of your smoker, I would use charcoal and add wood chunks to that. I believe that the use of wood might just over power the smoker. If you use wood, be sure to keep the fire small as the temp could get away from you pretty quick.
After you get a few burns under...
I'm really surprised that the letter from Robert M. Groves doesn't say:
“Your response is important. Results from the 2010 Census will be used to help each community get its fair share of government funds FOR THE COMMON GOOD" as that is what is implied. It is another way of saying "From each...
Inside and grates...get some spray oil (Pam) and use that...it makes it easier to get into the nooks and crannies and removes the hassle...I'm all about removing the hassle.
Good luck.
What Meat Hunter Said...KMA!
It really irks me when they try to segregate you into some race category...I'll tell you what I am, I'm an American, and there is no pre-qualifier in front of it. I'm also sick and tired of an out of control government that wastes my hard earned money with bone...
The best bet given the situation that you have described is a compresable foam from Allied Kenco:
Smoke House Door Gasket
Simply glue this gasket to your smoke house door or door frame using Hi Temp Silicon Red Sponge Style
1" Wide
1/4" Thick
Good up to 500 degrees F.
Sold by the foot in...
I'll play, but first, check this out.
Mrs. Engineer is a volunteer to prepare taxes and she came home with stories that you would not believe. Effectively having people that didn't pay (or earn for that matter) anything in the first place, getting huge refunds. She was so disgusted that she...
You would never be able to recoup your investment, and to make accessories for all of the different brands, you would need to tool up for each one if it were to fit right...and about the time you had your products ready, the manufacturer would change their design or footprint, and then it's back...
