Wha Extly is a Pork Boston Butt Roast?

HI: I have never smoked a Boston Butt before, let alone purchased the meat to do so. But I am working up the nerve to try it, so I was doing a little retcon at my supermarket today and I saw several cuts labeled "Port Boston Butt Roast". I know the cuts used for pulled pork are called Boston...

Austin TX - Places to Buy Quality Cuts of Meat

Hello: I live in the Austin/Round Rock area, and I am looking for a place to buy quality cuts of meat (ribs, chicken, briskets, pork butts, etc.). Are there any meat markets or butcher shops that anyone can recommend? I would rather not have to go to HEB and purchase meat vacuum packed in salty...

Anyone with Lang 48/60 in Central TX?

Unfortunately, no. It took Lang FOREVER to actually email me the quote. I had to leave the country for work and I pleaded with them to get the quote to me before I left, so they could start building it, but it didn't come in time. Now I won't be back state side until the first week in November...

    Greetings Fellow Smokers!

Greetings!! I am so happy to be a member of this great community. My name is Alexis and I live in Round Rock, TX. I purchased my first offset smoker in 2004 and only used it as a grill until earlier this year - but once I did I stumbled upon a world I never knew existed!! The amount of useful...

Anyone with Lang 48/60 in Central TX?

Thanks!! I do have a question though: Is the width of the Lang 60 really 57"? I ask because that is what the website lists, and I checked my gate entrance to my backyard today and I only have clearance for 45" at the most. I'm hoping I don't have to mod my fence/gate in order to get this beast...

Any Lang 48/60 Owners in Central TX?

Hey oldschool... I was talking about driving 3 or so hours to get a look and feel for a Lang...not driving all the way to Nahunta from Austin TX lol. Right now its moot because I place my order for a Lang 60 today and  am very excited. As others who have purchased Lang's in the past have said...

Any Lang 48/60 Owners in Central TX?

Hi: I am trying to figure out my next smoker and it looks like I will be going the way of the Lang. I personally think that the 36 is too small, but the 84 would be too big for me now and in the future. So, I am fixated on the 48 or 60 models. The only problem is that I can't really get a good...

Is a Joint Spare Ribs & Chicken Halves Smoke too Agressive for 2nd Time Smoke?

Hi Family: With Labor Day 2014 quickly approaching, my family has decided that they want both chicken and spare ribs, but I am wondering if this move would be too aggressive for someone just starting to get a grasp on everything that smoking entails. My first smoke was a few weeks ago and I...

    My FIRST Smoke...Jerk Chicken Quarters...with Q-View

Sure thing!! I did not make my own marinade for the jerk chicken - not because I couldn't - bt because I have truly found a marinade that is authentic as it gets.  don't know if anyone has been to Jamaica and gone to Schotchy's, but this place makes arguably the best jerk anything on the planet...

    My FIRST Smoke...Jerk Chicken Quarters...with Q-View

Hi Forum Family: Thanks to everyone who helped me with my temperature and TBS issues/questions. I am so glad I did a test run before I tried to put any meat in the cooking chamber. After I got all of that sorted, I threw caution to the wind and tried my first smoke. I did about 6 or 7 chicken...
