I would fry onions and bacon in the dutch oven, dump in my favorite baked bean recipe, and smoke it @ 350. Chili much the same. Brown a chuck roast in the dutch oven, throw in the veggies and beef stock, and smoke.
I recently purchased my first piece of enameled cast iron cookware (dutch oven). I was looking over the directions and it says not to use it in a smoker. Do bad things happen to enameled cast iron in a smoker?
When I ordered the Lodge enameled Dutch Oven I somehow used an expired credit card number and Amazon kicked it back. So I did a little more research and ordered one of these. Cooked pork loin and sauerkraut in the oven with it tonight. Cleanup so much easier plus I can fridge the left overs...

I ordered a 7.5 enameled Lodge (China version). We use our Dutch Oven a lot. We would rather have things cooked in a Dutch Oven verses a slow cooker. And that big Dutch Oven pot is good for a lot of stove top things. I did read a lot of reviews on the more expensive Dutch Ovens and the Lodge...
Love cast iron cooking and have no problems maintaining my Lodge cast iron skillets. My Lodge cast iron Dutch Oven has/is been a pain. Not matter how hard I try to keep it seasoned the seasoning flakes off especially when cooking pork loin with sauerkraut and beef pot roast.

We have more than our fair share of skunks here. We don't bother them and they don't bother us. We have to make sure we don't walk around our yard after dark without a flashlight so we don't trip over them.
