Replacement TempsPike XR was delivered today and tried it out on a couple of baked potatoes tonight. Works perfectly. I like the way it's set up. For some reason phone apps don't work well where we live and this is exactly what I was hoping for. Alarms are loud and it seems to be easier (for me)...
Years ago I tried to get back into cast iron pans. I got so aggravated with the seasoning and special cleaning it was more trouble than it was worth and I gave the skillet away. Bout five years ago I bought another Lodge skillet and a Lodge Dutch oven. The only seasoning they get is from what's...
Getting ready to do a couple of butts to vacuum seal and freeze. Was looking around and came across some articles about butterflying pork butts and was wondering if anyone had tried this.
Amazon is pretty easy to deal with as far as returns go. I had it out of the box again today to see if the bad probe was working and now neither probe works. Both are dead. Things happen.
The ThermoPro TempSpike XR came today. I like everything about it and it's a nice unit. I made some loaded potato skins tonight and decided to test it. Unfortunately (1) of the (2) probes quit working after thirty minutes. No amount of resetting or re-syncing will get it to work. The other probe...
An off the shelf Lodge works without smoothing. It's the seasoning and care of cleaning in order not to remove the seasoning that makes them non-stick.
Cooking will season it. I have tried using Crisbee to season but found cooking over time seasoned it just as well. No mine doesn't look like a finely polished race car but does the job and is easy to clean. I found that cleaning it wrong made it very difficult to clean the next time I used it.
I have been searing chicken at 700 degrees then backing the heat down to 400 degrees to cook to temp. Nice char on the skin that we like. 700 degrees is death on temperature probes (except Masterbuilts). What's the lowest temp I can go and still get a good sear?
Watched some Youtube and read some reviews and ordered the ThermoPro Tempspike tonight. Looks like a nice setup. Appreciate the good advice I was given here.
I presently own an Inkbird IRF-4S that works very well with a few cons:
My hearing isn't all that good and I can't hear the alarms on it. Even with hearing aids.
I do a lot of high temp searing and the probes on the Inkbird don't hold up at high searing temps.
It would be nice to have...
I have been ordering from here for many years and very happy with their product and service.
