Alternatives for Mustard as a base for a rub on ribs?

I wouldnt recommend using peanut oil though if cooking for a community event. Ive seen someone do that with baked goods and someone with a peanut allergy didnt know and needed an epi pen and ambulance

How come every smoking book has different cooking times for ribs??

They look amazing! You can sauce them for last 15 or 30 min for a nice glaze. Wont burn unless the temp is too high, around 325 from what i was told.

Using mustard to rub on ribs and butts. Pros and cons

Rub will stick to it no matter what. I found the step as uneccessary, just a waste of time, mustard, and creates a little mess. I also found it doesnt add more bark. I also never oil my grates or meat and never had a problem with it sticking

Giving BBQ a bad name, this is happening in my town

No its not normal, ive never seen any caterer or restaurant dispose of food this way. Either they dispose of it in the trash properly or even donate extras to soup kitchens/homeless/etc.

To Sauce or Not to Sauce? That is the question.

I too like to glaze it at the end. I like sauce but dont want it to overpower everything else. Usually just add a thin layer on last 30 min or so, then maybe use some on the side. Do whatever tastes good to you. Now chicken wings are a different story. I like em nice n saucy

    Brine, Inject or both?

Ive been told you dont need to brine pork butt because itll stay moist as long as you dont overcook it. I have brined it once and didnt see a difference in taste. If you really want to get more flavor inside then inject it. I usually throw whayever together as far as a rub goes, but injection i...
