15 year old Generac not running...replace?

I definitely hear that. I guess the cost of the new unit will help point you towards a decision. Hopefully its no too crazy a cost.🤞 Corey

15 year old Generac not running...replace?

Unfortunately one late oil change that lets the oil darken will cause subsequent oil changes to come out "dark" at least for a while. Changing it more frequently will eventually wash the dark oil out. Dark oil is not a death sentence, its not great, but not 911 yet. Corey

15 year old Generac not running...replace?

There are a few things it could be, the pressure of the service main could have been increased over 15 years and the generator just didn't like it, the factory non adjustable reg could be failing and the new external one will be stepping the pressure down to a level the old one can handle. If...

15 year old Generac not running...replace?

Just put another regulator on it. I had to do that in my shop because the tube heater couldn't handle to pressure that the house required. Staging regulators in natural gas is common, you locally bring the pressure down at the engine so it only see's the 2 or 3 wc required. Corey

15 year old Generac not running...replace?

A basic leakdown test should also tell you if there is leakage past the rings and valve train, if things are sealed up pretty tight still and there are no obvious noises coming from the bottom end, then the engine is probably still in reasonable condition. It boils down to stop paying a service...

15 year old Generac not running...replace?

Its a basic engine, why are the service people having difficulty figuring it out? I don't mean to be a jerk, but its ignition, air, or fuel, that's pretty much it. You don't mention if its diesel, or gas. Corey

Finally got the last big piece for my shop.

Bit of an update on the hoist install, i can't grout the foot. I consulted a couple engineers i know through work, as well as a Sika Canada rep this past week, and to grout to maximum strenght i need a minimum of 1 inch thick. Well my floor is only out by ⅝" and would be a tapered pour, so a no...

Little bit of pulled pork for the weekend.

Pulled so nice, like butter. I found some buns at the food store in Onoway that were made by a local place ( i think it was a persons house) they were amazing. Didn't have time to make a side so just grabbed some potato salad. Made for a good supper. Thanks for looking. Corey

My 1st Whole Brisket on the Offset — Lessons in Bark, Smoke & Rest

What temp did you put it in the cooler at? The 203f? If so, i agree with your assessment, you may have had carryover. Usually let mine rest till they loose about 100 deg, that way they are done cooking, then the hold doesn't keep cooking things. Letting the brisket cool too fast also can give...

Little bit of pulled pork for the weekend.

Im on days off and have a lot of things to do around the property plus trying to do brakes on the motorhome. I wanted something for suppers that was easy and not a lot of thinking involved. Decided on a 7lb pulled pork. Been on for a couple hrs already, hickory smoke. Corey

Well. that was my duh moment

I have cruise on the Kubota tractor also, its nice when i level the roads, but if your cruising for a while, when you have to make a change, sometimes your brain goes into neutral, ive blown off my road a few times, luckily nobody was coming the other way. Its good in a way but not good. Don't...

Finally got the last big piece for my shop.

This is about the level of woodwork i can do, built the cabinets in the shop and a little coffee bar in the mezzanine, the bottom left has a small fridge, top right a little microwave. Just ¾" good one side. I just needed solid stuff. Im a Millwright/Welder so no high skills with the wood. The...

Finally got the last big piece for my shop.

The slab thickness is 6" 3500 mpa. Which is what the lift needs. The reason i have to grout is the shop has a drain and the concrete is sloped , the column foot needed about ⅝" shims to bring it into plumb. So i will be creating a huge point load at the shims. I'll drill and anchor using 6- ¾"...
