If you were going camping and could only take 1, which would you take? With the plan to smoke a pork butt and grill some burgers and hot dogs on one of the other days.
The Davey Crockett seems pretty good, and I think I’m sold on it. I’ve seen just a few reviews with inconsistent temps in the grilling area. Just wondering if others have seen this as well or these are just one off cases?
Thanks for this. Good read. I’m perplexed as to why they didn’t integrate a thermostat controller. I love my 680, but it seems like they missed the bullseye on the Bullseye. My main goal was to have smoker for camping with the added benefit to use as a grill when needed. But babysitting the...
I will check it out. Thanks for the reply. Has he done grilling on it yet? That’s what kinda pulled me to the bullseye because of the high temps. But then I just realized that it doesn’t have any sort of controller to regulate temps and airflow. Looking at the davey Crockett, it does have this...
Hi there, I wanted to find out how many bullseye owners are on the forum and get some feedback. I have a 680 and love it. I’m trying to get a more portable smoker/grill to take camping. It feels like the bullseye would be a good option, but wanted to see how it’s performing for those here on the...
I have a Rectec, was using cookinpellets at the time. Wind wasn't too bad, mild breeze but I have the rec under the patio. From what I've seen, there are a couple people that have said they have the same issue. Just wondering if I am doing something wrong as I didn't see complaints about ash...
Thank you! It turned out pretty good, think I'll pull based on tenderness next time instead of temp. Now I need to figure out how to not have a bunch of ash on my grates and food that I am smoking. I hadn't noticed it much on the other items I cooked in the past, but this overnight cook really...
Thanks Bear and Joe. I didn't wrap at the stall, probably should have. With my MES in the past, I always wrapped to get through the stall. Pulled at 205, took about 18 hours total.
I recently got a rectec a few months ago and decided to do an overnight smoke last night. Put the pork butt in at 12:00am and I had the smoker set to 230 but the grill was having a hard time keeping temp. I think the smoker was at about 205-210 through the night. I woke up around 5:00am and...
