Reminds me of a true story...
Our neighbor had a firewood stack on the back of his property where it meets mine. He had a son who was maybe 4 years old at the time. One day we were sitting on the deck in our back yard and the neighbor's son was in his yard playing. He came around behind the...
Mine is a stone I bought ages ago (even before I had a smoker), probably 30 years ago. We used it in the oven a time or two, but it was more a novelty than anything else. I dug it out of storage and it fit the PB5 rack perfect. It's fairly thin at about 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch thick. It's a...
Well, the Pit Boss 5 vertical holds 55 pounds of pellets if you fill it. I've done a burn in and 4 smokes on mine with the 20 pounds I first put in, and I would say I have at least 1/3 of that and possibly 1/2 of that left. So if you don't open the door and let the heat out, the PB will run a...
Time to find a new source (and new meat company if that is what they use for their products as well). That is not right. Try Syracuse Casings Co, they have excellent products and pre-tubed casings are a breeze to use.
If you like the way it works, I would suggest looking on Amazon for a stainless steel pan that will be the right size for the PB4. The foil keeps the pan clean, so a more permanent pan will work just fine. They have a very wide range of pans on Amazon. I even found one that fits my LEM 10...
Looks great!
Sounds like the vaporized drippings are contributing to the black coating from prior smokes. Interesting.
Also my wife would have a stroke if I took one of her Wilton cake pans and put it in the smoker. She is particularly picky about those pans!
Hey, can't hate an entrepreneur... Probably just wanted the Assassin gravity fed smoker. I bet some of the other stuff ends up selling and he gets the Assassin for free and pockets some extra coin.... There was a lot of value in that deal.
Hell, if he was within 2 states of me, that's what I...
I recently bought a Pit Boss 5 from walmart. They have started the after Mid-summer markdowns on BBQ equipment. Watch brickseek and see of the prices have dropped near you. I got mine for $223, but some stores are dropping them to $199 (original either $446 or $396 depending on store).
I...
They are attached via machine screws into a rivet nut. I do not think a sheet metal screw would hold under the weight and motion of the door. Rivet nuts can be had on Amazon, but if you don't have a higher power rivet tool, they can be tough to install as they are thicker than normal rivets...
Great looking sticks Richie!!!
I need to run a batch in my PB5, but I'm glad to see it works well. You know we are onto something when even Rick (NEPAS) gets one!
Have you looked at a Backwoods Chubby 3400. The 3400 is a small insulated reverse flow vertical cabinet. I'm not certain about a 25 pound turkey fitting, but I'm sure someone else will chime in (hopefully who has a 3400). The specs list the cook chamber as 17x16x13 tall. I know that's a...
Cover? With what?
The actual heating element is inside what you see as the element. What you see is a cover. Make sure those little feet on the end opposite of the wire connections have something to rest on as those elements do get hot enough they can bend under their own weight. Those...
