    Not getting blue smoke, why?

To hot would = less smoke as heat causes complete burn. Get your AMNPS back out and play with it. It works well in the MES after you learn how to use it. i always microwave the pellets or dust for a minute and spend a full 15 minute getting it going. I pull the chip loader out about an inch with...

    MES cooking too quickly

As said by the others get a good thermometer and you will find that your temps are pretty high. Also you need to cook by temp not by time except ribs. Ribs are thin enough that they are cooked but not tender long before they are ready. Yes run the probe down the top vent. You should also check...

    Lighting the AMPS?

A propane torch for me works great. I look at the clock when I start and spend a full 15 minutes before I put it in the smoker. I also always microwave the pellets or dust for a minute. Keep an eye on them as I have had dry ones start to smoke and almost catch fire in the microwave. Happy...

How long to smoke, not cook, a butt?

I light one end and apply smoke the whole time. So now you have 3 different answers and none are wrong. It is all a matter of taste. Start with a little and see if you need to go longer next time. Remember to keep notes so you know how to repeat it. Happy smoken. David

Mule's question of what to do with points!

So you work hard and you are nice to everyone as well as post some good ideas. Along the way the nice people on SMF give you a point along the way. I have been saving points for years not knowing what I was saving for. Then one day my friend Bearcarver suggested I should save for a new Corvette...
