I spritz my thighs and legs with apple cider vinegar while they're on the smoker, and when they're done I spritz one last time to give them a little more tang.
ETA: The spritz I use on smoked chicken is 3 parts apple cider vinegar, 2 parts water, 1 part vegetable oil.
