    Strong work, Danny! The fit and finish are looking good! The slight "hang up" on the door shouldn't be too difficult to address - probably nothing that a few minutes with a grinder won't fix...which is kinda like applying @chopsaw 's idea of beveling the inner diameter. I'm liking your design...

    Heck yeah! No question about a man's priorities when his kids are small. It's been a long time for me - our youngest is 36. We do enjoy spoiling our grandsons though! It's awesome that your son loves to cook out with his Dad! Those experiences are worth way more than any smoker for sure...
