yeah, this was the first time I have used it. Also was my first go with a WSM so I still just need to get used to the smoker. I thought I filled the ring mostly full but I guess next time I need to make sure it is completely full. I also think I could close the one intake just a bit to about 3/4...- trotline

Thanks for the write up dude. I fired up my new WSM for the first time this weekend after 1 seasoning smoke. I used the minion that I have read so much about on here. WSM Question
My family gave me a 22.5" WSM for Christmas (woo hoo!). After assembling it, I noticed the access door does not seem to seal very well. Is this a problem others have had? Is there a recommended modification? Always appreciate the expert advice I get from here. I can't wait to fire this thing...- trotline

thanks, I will def. check into a basket or something to eliminate this problem. I have an old grate in there to help with this but in this case it was not enough. I try to use lump also but my family had the Kingsford that needed to be used and I was too lazy to go buy some good stuff. :) Thanks... -

Last time I checked my therm. it was correct but that was a few months ago. The thing with the ash is probably my problem. My parents had some blue kingsford here so I just used that. I will dump it and start over. Thanks very much. You may have just saved football Saturday! -

lil help please
Ok, I put 2 racks of spares on earlier this morning and temp started out good. Now it is a couple hours later and my temp has dropped and I cannot get it to return. I dumped a new chimney full of lit coals in about 30-45 minutes ago and it is still below 200. I'm still learning this so any help... -

choosing ribs
Hey guys, just wondered what are some things you look for when picking out a rack of babybacks? I have been buying mine from the local grocery store that supposedly has the "best meat in town." But I have gotten a couple racks from there and noticed an off color tint to a small spot on the top... -
my first newbie question
I have a quick question for you guys about wood. My family owns some land and it is full of oak and hickory with a few apple trees. Is there any reason why I shouldn't walk through and gather my own wood? I would know better than to gather rotten or nasty looking wood but I have a few oak limbs...- trotline
