    Vacuum Sealer Bit the Dust

My Foodsaver vacuum sealer broke yesterday. The sealing strip broke loose and it was only sealing about 6 bags before flashing and refusing to seal anyway. It was about 15 years old, so time for a new one. Things I like about the one I have: * Selection between moist and dry modes * Can make...

What's going on with delivery companies?

It took two months for USPS to deliver my moms mothers day card and she only lives four hours away. They lost a replacement blade for my LEM grinder that had tracking on it and sat in KC for two months. I called LEM after it sat there for two weeks and they mailed a new one that showed up in...

    Not Feeling the Cherry Love...

I have not had much luck running all cherry. I dont look for it anymore since have to mix with oak or hickory which masks the little bit of flavor it can provide. My fav three are apple, oak, and hickory. Cant stand mesquite.

1st time doing dry cure bacon.

Looks great. I just smoked a dry brine belly today. Spiced it up with habanero, onion powder, and granulated garlic. I also think it tastes better cured this way. It cooks differently than store bought. Wasnt sure how it would work in abt’s but it did fine. Need to get another stainless rack so...

Do hammer drills work as advertised ?

Could ask around to borrow one. They rent them too. Is it a brick fireplace surround or rock/stone? I wouldnt drill into brick as previously said, mortar joints ok.

    Options for building new smoker

I am planning mine as well. I was thinking 34”x34”x72”. Reason the 34 instead of 36 is so would fit through a standard exterior door. May still bump up to 36 since I will be keeping it in garage and less material cutting. I plan on using 220 electric element with a pid. Will also be on casters...
