Welcome, from Sonoma County, just down 101. You’ll love this site and the folks on it. There’s a lot of experience and knowledge to lean on. We’d love to see some pictures of your projects.

Bear, I stalked this site for a good 10 years before I joined. Yours was the name my searches always seemed to lead me to. I...
I’d love to get some practical, experience-based tips from those you who have endured a kitchen remodel. I’m tearing out the old oak floors soon. The cabinets will follow as last-minute as I think we can handle. New custom cabinets arrive mid Feb that a contractor friend of mine will help me...
I’ve never had any success in imparting maple flavor in any of my attempts. So I’m on board with trying your method, Robert. I even tried the maplene trick. I’ll have to give maple bacon another chance.
Any time Robert breaks out the mini cast iron pans, I’m in. An overly quick glance at the tithe and I thought, “What?! That’s nuts.” Then I saw @tx smoker and I knew it was gunna be great. I think you may have a new genre of food, Lasagna Wraps.
My oven has a frame around it which makes cracking the door open very difficult. After much trial and error, using the door handle and a wooden spoon, I cracked the door open without turning off the oven. It took a while. It was worth the work. The jerky was saved. I usually dry mine at 140-145...
I’ve never liked any chain. Some of them have bread with such high sugar content that in Europe some have to classify their breads as cake. I’ve always found Mom & Pop delis to be the best (but sometimes disgusting). The line at lunchtime will let you know.
That said, a full-on Italian is...
We have a chef Store in town. Their beef is never graded. Does that mean it’s below choice? I’ve always been cautious to get beef there other than eye of round for beef jerky as theirs is very lean.
Hey Mike. Welcome, from California. I have a lot of respect for those gifted in welding and metal work. It will be fun to track your progress on your project.
Not sure why I didn’t think of the oven myself. I have a one-track mind, I guess. Glad I checked in here and did my complaining. There’s always a better solution than my solution. Although, it might have made good chili. But I’d rather have jerky. This stuff is beautiful.
Feel better soon. Drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest. Searching for “goats that scream like people” on YouTube is also good therapy. I’m day one out of quarantine myself.
If I left that fancy custom mold in my fridge and my wife opened it in the morning she’d yell, “I can’t believe it’s not butter!”
Sorry. Someone had to do the dad joke here. I felt obligated. It was too easy. 😂
