Thanks for sharing that. It is very hard. There’s no easy way to do it. Even though the ups and downs happen I’m glad to hear you keep attacking it. For me, the battle is fought in the grocery store. You can’t eat it if it’s not in the house. That’s not easy because I really miss Doritos! Go...
As I talk with others who’ve done this a common pattern is folks finding their own way, learning to listen to their bodies, and doing what feels right for them. And, it really doesn’t matter what you eat it’s just eating less and being more active, consistently.
Some days it feels like a war of wills. But you’re right, you get used to it and then even sort of embrace it. Our entire pantry changed along with many other things. And you’re right, it is a lifestyle change, more so than I thought.

The thing is, they go bad after a while and lose their punch. I discovered this with a big can of Lawry's I had. It turned almost white and didn't smell like anything. It's fun to have a collection but this stuff needs to be used and I don't make or eat enough smoked meat to keep ahead of it all.
I’m a very long way from LJ HQ so it’s not easy to find. The closest dealer is over an hour away and I’m happy to pay $15 a bag on sale. KnottyWood is local and it’s everywhere in NorCal and, ironically, the same price.
Thanks for all the kind comments. For whatever reason I put the worst picture in this post and never caught it. And then it ends up on the spinner. Haha! Here’s a couple better shots.
That red is not an editing trick. They actually looked like that for a couple of hours before the bark...
