Liquid smoke or no liquid smoke?

Thanks for that. I never considered that there were different brands of liquid smoke. I just only ever saw the bottle in the supermarket and they were always the same. I would imagine that the sausagemaker product tastes better. I was mainly considering using it in a BBQ sauce but was kind...

Liquid smoke or no liquid smoke?

I see quite a few recipes that call for adding liquid smoke to them. I am not a big fan of liquid smoke so I usually don't add it to recipes that call for it. I would rather get natural smoke flavor from my BBQ pit or toss a chunk of wood in the grill to get some smoke on the food. What are...

How Do You Afford This Addiction?

Started working in a green house at 16. Joined the Army at 18 as an air defense radar operator. I used the Army college fund to go to tech school to get an electronics tech degree. After that, I got my start as an electronics tech working on industrial 3 phase motor controllers. Then moved to...

    Weekend FOTB ribs

Was making some ribs this weekend and the wife wanted them FOTB style. I watched Malcolm Reed's FOTB rib method and decided that I was going to use his approach. I got a package of St. Louis cut spareribs from Costco. I made up a batch of homemade BBQ sauce which turned out pretty well. A bit...

In the market for a Flat top

Incomplete combustion of propane can cause carbon monoxide to be produced. I wouldn't risk it without proper ventilation. There are propane stoves that can be used indoors but it must be rated to do so to be safe. Hope this helps. JC :emoji_cat:

In the market for a Flat top

Don't have any experience for comparison but I really like my Blackstone 36" 4 burner griddle. Gets plenty hot and I really love the cook surface. Has done a great job on everything I have cooked on it. Good luck getting the right one for you. With a family of 5, I would probably lean toward...

    Advice for Newbie build

You may be able to get good heat and regulation by using a PID controller and a blower fan to control the airflow through your firebox. That is how I control the heat in my charcoal offset smoker. My $0.02 JC :emoji_cat:
