No problems with the rec tec. It runs like a rolex watch. It does an incredible job of holding temp I have had no temp swings on long cooks either on a 100 degree day or at 30 degree day. I cant say the same thing about the other 2 I would have swings of over 50 degrees up and down it was like...
I was a former traeger owner and have to say I had nothing but issues with it. I would stay clear. I went to a GMG Prime and it was better than traeger but still had issues with huge temp swings and rusting. I have since bought a Rec Tec and have to say that there is no comparison to the traeger...
What brand of pellets are you using? I have had decent snake flavor by using lumberjack or bbq delight pellets versus other brands. Also might want to try a smoke tube
Please do yourself a favor and DONT get the traeger. There are much better smokers out there for the price of the Traeger. They are still selling off there name but there quality and performance has fallen behind other brands
Here in the greensboro area of NC we have several small butcher shops and they have had plenty of poultry, pork and beef and there prices have been more than fair
Lumberjack, BBQ delight are the 2 I like the best. I’ve heard great things about cookin pellets but I haven’t tried them. I was not impressed with pit boss or traeger
Correct, but they are leaps and bounds better than traeger, GMG, weber, pit boss and countless other. I’ve had a traeger and a GMG and they were both pieces of s**t.
Perhaps but when I had my Traeger and my GMC I had nothing but issues with temp swings to the point that I had to babysit the grill as if it were a stick burner. I could never be consistent with cook times because when I thought the grill was running 225 it would be actually 275 or vice versa...
I don’t have any experience with Yoder but I do know they are a quality unit. I have a Rec Tec Bull and am very pleased with it. There customer service and warranty are great.
I use Lumberjack pellets, Apple for pork and Chicken and Mesquite for beef. I also have used BBQ delight pellets and found them to be excellent as well just twice the price of Lumberjack
They are not what they once were as far as quality. They are living off there name and have fallen behind much of the other manufacturers. I had a Pro 780 and it was horrible at keeping a consistent temp it would fluctuate 30 to 50 degrees either way and flame out on occasion. I tried several...
