anyone here build a flat top griddle?

That's the way my buddy's is, with the hot spot in one area-the length of the burner.  Mine has 3 inch stainless splash guard sides and back, and a 3 inch grease trough with scrape hole in the front.  I'm hoping by putting in 3 burners, i'll have considerably more temperature control rather than...

anyone here build a flat top griddle?

Thanks for the replies so far! Ej,     I'm afraid pix wouldn't do much good at this point (it's entirely in pieces, scattered all over my shop), but i'll try and get some on here in the next couple o days.  I have the entire unit dis-assembled as far as it can go right now.  I was just gonna...

anyone here build a flat top griddle?

I recently picked up a 3 foot wide X 18 inches deep- commercial flat cooking griddle on a stainless steel table at an auction for cheap ($76). It's stainless, 5/8 inch plate. It was electric at one time (didn't work) but i removed all the heating elements and controls and am replacing them with...

    reverse flow smoker question

I don't get it either.  Make sure you have that exhaust pipe all the way open, and control your heat with the intakes. Also that the unit is level (i actually installed a bubble level on mine ).  That's the only things i can think of.

    Chimney Question

when i built mine, i brought the stack just flush with the top of the inside of the tank.  I went to the trouble of making a "slider" pipe, that fit inside the actual stack, that i could adjust up or down (inside the tank-all the way to the grate if needed) since i wasn't sure what the right...

    miller 175 mig welder

i found one locally, going to look at it this morning. I dont know much about welders but it sounds like a decent price from what i've seen. Supposedly barely used in mint condition, 220 volt, comes with 2 tanks, extra tip, gloves, helmet, wire, and a heavy duty extension cord. is it worth $475...

    Your Opinion Please...

Yeah Iceman, i think thats a bit much too. Mine is made from a 60 gallon airtank as well. I bought it at the local scrapyard, and i gave either 10 or 20 bucks for it over a year ago and it was like new. Hang in there, you'll find one. Good Luck

    Hinges

Jake, i just used a solid steel rod and ran it thru some 6 inch pieces of pipe i had, alternating welds between the door and smoker body. Sorry i dont know the size of pipe-but the rod just barely slid thru, with no slop at all. Then tack welded the rod on one end so it wouldn't slide out/
