    Be Prepared

Mr. Maroni... the thugs and bastages would be hard pressed to get in here. LOL!

    Quick ABT's

I agree... I usually smoke at 225* or so for ~90 minutes total. Keep an eye on em... when the bacon looks done to your preferred crispness, it's time to get em out and chow down.

    Be Prepared

All good tips to live by. We had a pretty severe ice storm here in 2008, which we were fairly well prepared for. The only thing we found ourselves short on was fuel for the generators, but we probably burned 30 gallons or so during that time (7-8 days without power). The first few days were no...

    Pork Loin and Fatty Q-view

I've not done it either... but I've heard that it is good pulled. I think I'll cut the end off and see how it does. If it doesn't want to pull well, I may end up slicing it and eating it like that. I just sprayed it with apple cider and wrapped it at 130 degrees. I'll let it go like that till...

    Pork Loin and Fatty Q-view

I've decided to try my first pork loin today. I've smoked a lot of pork shoulders/butts, but my butcher says that pork loin is really good. I intend to pull it, so I prepared it just as I would with other pulled pork, with a dry rub. He (my butcher) recommended that I wrap the loin in foil about...

    Pickled Eggs

I posted a thread on this a year or so ago, but I think it may have been lost in the crash. My wife and I tried a couple of different methods... I used vinegar, pickling spices and beets for color... she used left over pickling juices from jalapenos, dill pickles, pepperoncini, and whatever...

What's on the grill today fellas?

Got a 6# pork loin going and a fatty. Hope to be eating both this evening while watching the Cowboys/Saints game. Hey Gunner... bologna is pretty cheap, but an easy and tasty smoke. Give it a try... slap a thick slice on a bun with some sauce. Good and simple. Chubs... good luck on the...

Its only December, but I wish summer was here already.

I hear ya. Got the smoker going now with a pork loin and a fatty, but I can't hardly stand to hang around out there and enjoy the smell of smoke with a cold beer. I know, I probably sound like a big whiner since we are only in the mid 30s and no snow, but we have been having below average temps...

High Heat paint at Homedepot is it priced right?

That is good stuff. I use it as touch up on my smoker each Spring. I really haven't had to use much, and I think it may even be more durable than the original coating because it doesn't seem to burn off too quickly. I like the stuff.

    Head Country Question

Good stuff for sure... made right down the road in Ponca City, OK. I almost picked up a gallon of the Hot at the Tulsa State Fair this year for $10, but I chose to buy the combo pack (3 regular bottles of reg, hicory and hot, and a bottle of rub) so I could try em all. They are all real...

New Member, New Smoker, 1st Brisket

Looks really good for your first brisket. Heck, it looks good for your second or third too! Much better than I did on my first attempt. Brisket is usually one of the more difficult thinks to smoke well. Good job!

    Not a clue in Savannah

Hey Salty! Welcome to SMF. This is definitely the place to get your questions answered. As for your smoker, the SnG (I assume Smoke'n Grill) is affectionately known as the ECB (El Cheapo Brinkmann) around here. If you do a search for "ECB Modifications", "Cooking with the ECB", "ECB Help", or...

    Brinkman vs GOSM

If Brinkmanns were still built with heavy gauge steel, I'd say get the SnP, but they are kind of light nowadays. Don't have A GOSM, so I can't speak to that. Sounds like you have already made a decision. Good luck... and post some q-view!

    New GOSM

No apology will be given... I'm just giving ABOMB a hard time. We always talk a bunch of trash... golfing, paintball, shooting sports, BBQ, whatever. As for dropping a big one in my office... he runs crop dusting missions all the time, so that's nothing new. All the more reason to give him crap.

    New GOSM

The best solution is to get a real wood smoker and load'er down with you favorite wood and lots of goodies. After that, drink several beers and await your reward. Or, you can keep making pencil shavings for your "wood" dish. LOL! JK man...

    New GOSM

A couple of things about ribs... First... buy Jeff's rib rub recipe. It is dynamite! Heck, buy both recipies... that sauce you love so much is his recipe too. LOL! Second... watch these clips (several times) to learn how to prep St. louis style ribs. It pays to do them right...
