    useing blackberry wood for smoking

While I can't say for sure if he meant that or not, but Blackberry/Blueberry has been tried by some. As well as mulberry.  If it's a harder wood, it's probably got a little stronger flavor profile than mulberry. Mulberry is light, and good with sausage, chicken, etc.  I read on another forum...

Wow! Now that is some killer meat for some killer sammy's. Excellent smoke, thanks for sharing!

    Flat Iron Steak & ABT's w/Q-view

One of my favorite cuts. I get them from a "gourmet" butcher here locally - a bit expensive ($7.99/lb), and aren't in stock for very long. You absolutely nailed it on texture, taste and tenderness. And since they tend to be thinner cuts, it's very easy to overcook, unless you smoke them. (I...

    Sticky Buns

Never made anything like this, nor have I really ever made dough.  Mind sharing the recipe/directions/instructions so I can attempt this one day? If not, that's ok. They look awesome!!

    which smoker should I get

But are also considerably more expensive. Not to mention the cost to ship 365lbs, and state tax (I believe).

    which smoker should I get

If they are both the same price, I'd go for the Brinkman. The Brinkman should also be more efficient, as I stated above, so there might not be any actual "fire attending" aside from starting the fire.  If you like sitting by the fire, and watching the fire, why would you want a Guru? That's as...

    which smoker should I get

How much is the horizontal in question? It's about half the weight of a Lang 36, which I think is about the same size. And the Lang uses 11ga steel. The Brinkman is probably 16, which is far thicker than the WSM.  The horizontal should be the more efficient smoker/grill, if you use it often...

MAVERICK ET-732's - Now In Stock!!

In one of the videos I saw, the reviewer stated the unit was "water proof" or water tight. It rains quite often here in FL, and I was wondering if this unit is actually sealed and water tight?

Apple & Cherry Chunks at Home Depot

I wish I did.  I heard abut this a while ago, and I think Cabelas offers something similar - like 40#'s for $15 or something. I can get Pecan. Apple. Cherry etc. etc. locally, but it's much more expensive them ordering online. For some reason..

Thoughts on the XL Big Green Egg?

They are excellent grills, smokers, and ovens. And bigger isn't necessarily better.  If you go to the egghead forums, the most common size(s) or "combos" owned, are the Large and Small or Large and Mini. Unless of course you are cooking for a large family.  With a large, and depending on the...

Apple & Cherry Chunks at Home Depot

If you need some Pecan, and don't mind ordering it online, buy at least 20lbs at a time, and shipping is actually reasonable. This is where I get my woods from: http://www.baxtersoriginal.com/bbq-smoker-woods.html Comes out to about $1.90 a pound, shipped, for just about any of the woods.  If...

Thoughts on the XL Big Green Egg?

For a BGE, the larger sizes, the warranty is very well worth it. I think a fire ring is ~$80. A fire box is like $200, if I remember. I only had a "small" perfect for one persons, like myself. If you get a crack or manufacturing defect in a fire box on a XL it's going to set you back, if you...

Thoughts on the XL Big Green Egg?

If you tip it over, probably not. But if you get a large or XL and you're able to tip it over easily, your a hell of a strong person. Unless of course you have a large or XL in just the 4-wheeled "nest". I could tip over the small I had in one of those things. A table or cart would be ideal, but...

Thoughts on the XL Big Green Egg?

1, You are not screwed if you break or crack the ceramic. BGE's are covered by warranties, unless you buy second hand. You are right, they can be heavy. A small or medium can be moved by the average person.  2, You likely had a bigger "fire box" or somewhere to hold lit lump. You are right, if...

    Trying to find Tri Tip

I've seen them on sale at a few local "butcher" shops. Sadly, they aren't that cheap around here. There is a RD about 15 miles away or so, and I'd like to get down there one day and see all the stuff they have.
