What are you seeing for pellet sales. Lowes has Pit Boss Competition Blend 40-lb Wood Pellets for $12. Thinking of trying them? I normally use Lumber Jack but lately I been cleaning out my closet of others I had bought and as long as use the low smoke or smoke tube they been OK.
This is something I tried persuading MAK to do years ago, but they would not, for liability reasons( ie some moron putting their fingers in the auger while it's turning). When I finish a cook, and it's going to be more than a day or so before the next, I like to dump the pellet hopper, and clear...
Happy to use it at first but I got a pellet in addition to my other smokers for times when I can’t be home all day. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the smoke tube, do you like using them?
Common with all pellet poopers. They put the smoke box there for a reason. If you don't want to use that, get a smoke tube, but keep in mind the smoke only burns for about 3 hours.
...place and time.
My wife prefers less smoke so I have to be careful even with just my pellet pooper as it can get pretty acrid in the smoke mode.
The forced induction of a pellet pooper would blow all the smoke out of the mailbox.
I run a pellettube inside the cook chamber. I haven't try...
For a quick dinner tonight is a locally sourced bird cooked on weber e425.
Garlic and jalapeño rub followed by pecan rub. Cooked at plus minus 380F with tube filled by apple/cherry pellet/chip mix.
...smoke mode as it produces clouds of cigarette smoke (white and billowy).
I get mine to temp around 275 ish and add the meat along with a pellettube to produce thin smoke for the flavor. Last cook was a rack of ribs so I omitted the smoke tube as the pooper alone makes it smoky enough for my...
Welcome to the party.
What pellet grill did you purchase?
Be forewarned that many pellet grills (poopers) are very light on smoke flavor versus an offset or WSM. I use a pellettube supplement in my pooper and it adds just enough smoke flavor that my my wife will tolerate.
Never used a WSM.
Trying to downsize so if I brought one home there would be hell to pay...
I've smoked a cushion sized piece of pork on the JJ using a pellettube.
Today was dyno rib day.
Smoke ring not as evident after 9 hours smoking. Started at 180 plus added 12” tube with pellet/chips mix. After two hours raised to 275. Last two hours at 300.
What I can tell you is Smoque produces subtle smoke taste. Definitely not a full bodied charcoal smoke...
Remember the electric bullet smoker of the old days. Smoldering smoke the same as a burn tube.
My wood burner does make meat better tasting than my pellet smoker but not by much if you use the right pellets. Few can tell the difference.
When PID controllers came along, the tight...

...or rib run.
Try a smaller charcoal load and a tube filled with pellets. You are looking to smoke and partially cook the sausage before finishing by poaching in a warm water bath.
I can smoke in a JJ using a pellettube and a small charcoal load. Wood chunks are not reliable in my experience.
I purchased a recteq dual fire. I thought it was one of the more versatile units that I was researching. Looked hard at camp chef as well but the recteq just seemed to do more of what I want to do.
