    13 Years in the Making

You can hook a pid up to control the gas flow too. I am including a thermo couple shutoff on mine in case the flame goes out for some reason. I need to finish mine up, caught a bad case of lazy and rather be out on the lake.

    Smoker worth fixing up?

...will want to verify the temps in the cabinet... If you have a remote/wireless thermometer that you can use to track the temps in the cabinet... And then compare them with what the controller is saying they are... This is why people will do the PID mod as the controller is hardly ever...

    Got the Rock wool today

I use electric with a PID controller... and a smoke tube... I like electric as you can set it up to ramp temps up automatically.. With a firebox you will almost have to sit there and babysit it the full time... I can start a batch when I go to bed and it will be done in the morning when I get...

    Smoker worth fixing up?

Other than the legs it's the same as my 30. If the wiring is the same then adding a PID (if the OP chooses to do so) should be nothing more than switching the wiring harnesses.

Camp Chef Woodwind Pro produces zero smoke flavor

...burner does make meat better tasting than my pellet smoker but not by much if you use the right pellets. Few can tell the difference. When PID controllers came along, the tight temperature control did not simulate the real wood burning smoker cycle of adding wood. So they came up with...

Green Mountain Grill GMG Jim Bowie - Thoughts

...Had kept it in the garage, and it worked like a beauty the last time I used it. Put it in the truck, drove it 20 minutes, unloaded it and....PID was out. Something like a $400 replacement part, and I felt like a @$$. If they are cool with you bringing some pellets and firing it up, I think...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Wiring help needed for newer MES 40. I have 4 wires total coming out of where the power cord is. Besides the white and black power wires, the other 2 are red and blue. Which wires should I connect to use my PID. Any help would be appreciated.

Camp Chef Woodwind Pro produces zero smoke flavor

I hear ya I have a WSM and also a Lang stick burner, both taste better than the pellet. Which pellet smoker do you use?

    Snack stick temps stall.

...and made their own. I build such things for a living, so that might happen. Maybe an Arduino and a K type thermocouple and then use a separate PID controller which is what they did (the PID controller part). I have several sitting around, but It's not really a fun project to me. If I do...

    My traeger BBQ075 needs TLC

...reaching max temp. for quite some time. I think it's time for some upgrades. I've been looking at a Savannah Stoker controller, but I read it works more like an oven and won't produce as much smoke. So I'm not sure a PID controller is what I want! Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hot Hold Brisket

Agree. I've started using my MES as a holding oven. The Auber PID lets me dial in low temps for how ever long I want.

I'll also say that I did have some initial issues with the Auber PID settings, but the Auber customer service folks took care of me and got me dialed in.

    Inkbird PID going crazy

So I smoked a batch of summer sausage today and noticed my Inkbird PID temp display going crazy. Say my temp was set at 150°. When it got close to target temp, it would quickly start jumping from 149 to 155 to 147 to 150 and so forth. Would do that for about 5 seconds then quit and settle on a...

    Botched snack sticks, need guidance

Did you actually verify your PID pit temps with a digital thermometer? PID controller may need some calibrating, it may have been running hotter than anticipated. They look good though, I would put a few of them away.😋
