    Don’t worry about set temp. Tell me what your grate temp was. That’s what you need to watch. May need to run your set temp to 300 to get a grate temp of say 250. This is learning your cooker. A welding blanket from harbor freight over the cooker can save a lot of grief. Insulation.

    That smoker should run great with the Jambo Design.... The stack should take care of the size of the smoker.... You want to insulate the FB with a welding blanket ?? or build an outer skin and stuff Rock Wool in the space....

    ...for heat retention. However, the purchase I've made to date (minus the Traeger) is going to Harbor Freight and buying an 8' x 8' Welding blanket. I double it up, drape it over the smoker and tuck it behind the handle. Negative temps, temp is what the control module is set at!! $20 bucks...

    When I bought my Traeger the rep actually recommended a welding blanket Instead a Traeger one. I went with a Traeger anyways since I think its more of a pain to deal with while cooking or using the fold up tray.

    Oh here is the solution that really did it, get a 6x8ft welding blanket, wraped it around the smoker, cut holes for ventilation and screwed back the handles and all fixtures again over the double layered blanket

    Cheapo welding blankets. Company in the US (Harbor Freight) sells them. Not pretty, not form fitting, but a welding blanket and a bungee cord works.

    If you have a Harbor Freight near you, you can pick up a welding blanket pretty cheaply. That's what I use, folded over, on my GMG Daniel Boone. Used it prior to that on my cheapie horizontal. It helps keep a good temp, and saves on pellets, too.
