Electric Smoker that uses CHUNKS, not chips or pellets.

runway1 - The line of smokers from SI are very well placed price wise. Of the all stainless steel smokers from SI, Cookshack and SmokinTex, SI are the lowest priced, and generally more capacity for less money.. While Cookshack is made in the USA, the SI and SmokinTex are imports, like many other...

New to me - SmokinTex 1400

I scored on a used SmokinTex1400 through Craigslist. Well, it didn't come with the wheels so not only is it hard to move around, it's also very close to the ground. I hate bending over. On the SmokinTex website they sell a stainless steel cart with wheels. Unfortunately there are no specs for...

...paul! Just last week I was curious about this and ran across the following post: https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/amnps-mod-for-smokintex-and-smokin-it-smokers.126290/ In short they don't do a mailbox mod but they instead widen the existing hole in the bottom and drill an...

Still havent decided on a smoker

If you have doubts, keep doing research. Check out the Smoke Hollow units. Their newest model is a bells and whistles laden Smoke Tronix.  It will cost a little more; there is also the smokers from Smokin-it and SmokinTex.  These last two cost a lot more but have had very few problems.

    Looking for bigger smoker

Thanks, Gary. I'm driving myself nuts talking myself into then out of various smokers. Currently thinking about the Smokintex 1460 or the 1500. If I knew how many racks of ribs each can handle it would be easier. Maybe I'll write them and ask.

Anyone with a LEM Mighty Bite Smoker?

...so swings can be kind of wild. Sometimes the knob can be adjusted to more accurately reflect a particular set temp. Smokin-it and SmokinTex (great smokers!) have analog controllers but their swings are in the 20 to 30 degree range high and low. Did you mount your digital thermometer at the...

Anyone with a LEM Mighty Bite Smoker?

Truth be told, many folks who spent far more on a Smokin-it or a SmokinTex electric smoker wanted tighter temps as well and just could not abide by the 20+ degree swings and went to Auber for a solution or built their own PID. I cannot imagine a 60 degree swing. I got a real kick out of your...

Hello from Chicagoland area -- buying new smoker soon

Welcome to SMF! I had a MES for years until it finally took a dump.  I went with the SmokinTex electric and spent more time on my offset pit and PBC.   So many great units out there.  Do your research and figure out the right one for you.   Smoke ON! - Jason

    Just getting started

I have a SmokinTex 1400 electric that I converted to a PID for temp control and I'm in the process of building a UDS(Ugly Drum Smoker).

Multiple Turkeys & Turkey Questions - newbie

Hello all, I'm brand new to smoking I've just acquired a smokintex 1460 and done my first smoke, a turkey in preparation for thanksgiving. I've attached a few pics below. The result was an amazing tasting turkey, but I didn't get crispy skin, how do you get the skin crispy? My next question...

    Different types of table tops

I have a SmokinTex Pro Series Residential BBQ Electric Smoker Model 1400. I know better than to "snug it up to the house". But as far as asking my question, I really wasn't sure about the table tops. My hunt for the perfect table goes on.

Actual differences of the Smokin-it #1 vs SmokinTex 1100?? (other than price)

...is guessing to be a few.  Are the heating elements similar enough? Notice one is a 350 watt over 400... Can one hold slightly more? (the SmokinTex reads larger on their site) Aware the warranty is 2 yr vs 3 yr as well Just want to see if there is an actual reason to choose one over the...

How to auto-tune my Auber PID controller?

The smoke generator is for a unit like the Bradley that does have a seperate element for heating the pucks for smoke. By chance is your smoker a SmokinTex? If so someone at ST might be able to help.

    Smoke Hollow Smoke-Tronix

...use. Six+ years and still going strong. They recently switched to the elongated heating element similar to that in the Smokin-it and the SmokinTex (don't know why). Very reliable. I now use a Smokin-it 3D which has deeper shelves at 21 inches and 14 wide (the Amerique is 14 deep by 18...

    Finally SmokinTex 1400 Temperature Stability

I have had a SmokinTex 1400 for 5+ years.  I have had it so long I can't remember when I bought it.  That's beside the point.  It worked great when I first bought it but it never held a steady temperature.  I had gotten to the point where smoking was near impossible.  I would put some meat in...

New to me - SmokinTex 1400

That sure is a nice looking cart, but for $200, I agree that you could find something else that would work.  Even building your own wooden one with casters that you could customize as you see fit (now that you have some dimensions with which to work) would likely be a fraction of that price...

    Enough smoke with Smokin-it ... ??

...site that some are using the AMNPS with no problems, and no drilling of holes. In the first link, you will come across a poster with a SmokinTex 1400.  Drilled additional holes which can be plugged when not needed. I have never seen the need.  But each to his/her own desires. There are...

Prime brisket on the smokin-it #3

Man that would be great for Breakfast. 3 fried eggs over easy, 3 slices of that brisket. OOOohh man makes me hungry... My smokintex always gives a great smoke ring. I add 2 pieces of charcoal and that's all it takes..
