    Auber PID not working

This is probably my issue, even though Auber customer service said the PID would work if I didn't have to take the smoker temp too high. But it won't even start the element heating. Time to send the PID back.....

    MES40 Concerns

Thank you sir. I did keep the old element on the sole suspect that it may not have been the issue. I will check the ohms on it to see what readings I get. Luckily, I am fairly knowledgeable about electronics and repairs. I rarely throw anything away that I can repair.

    MES30 won't power up

I have an Auber pid for my mes and love it... took my 25 to 30 degree temp swings down to holding within 2 degrees. Mine was around $150 I think, probably a little more now but totally worth it! Ryan

Step by Step Guide to Calibrate PID Settings

Recently, I’ve installed an Auber AW-1520H PID controller to my SmokinTex PRO 1400 model smoker. This model of smoker comes with a manual thermostat base temperature controller which makes it a great candidate to upgrade with a PID controller. Due to the simplicity of the smoker’s system, it...

Howdy from the great white north!

I bought what I believe is an Auber copy possibly for AliExpress it’s a Rex c-100?

    Bradley P10 opinions?

The regular Bradleys are only half built. I ran a dual element controlled by an Auber PID that could do everything. Hot smoke, cold smoke (kinda) and ran rock solid.

Need help with a good thermocouple!

Try a high-quality K-type thermocouple from Omega, Auber, or Watlow. Make sure it's properly placed away from direct heat, use shielded wiring to reduce interference, and check if your PID has input filtering. If swings persist, a better thermocouple should help!

    MES30 won't power up

Thanks, everyone. All connections look clean, not corroded or burnt, so it's a mystery what happened. I see tallbm's guide to bypassing the controller, which is how I got inside mine to look, but is there a guide that can walk me through parts and steps needed for the Auber PID solution?

Howdy from the great white north!

Not Auber but there is a gentleman here who has quite a bit of experience with that particular PID. Calling @JC in GB !

    Beginning to hate my MES40

Yep, have done the 2 mods. Auber PID and mailbox for smoke tube or tray. I use this smoker way more than my RT pellet grill. Very accurate low temp control for sausage, jerky, fish, etc.

...the resistance on the old element if you still have it . I think a 1200 watt element should be around 9 ohms ? Other than that , I think your fine . Going by your description anyway . Consider the bypass wiring , and adding an Auber PID controller . Turns the MES smokers in to a great smoker .

    TSM Red Roof 30lb smoker

Today i removed the factory controller and heating element. Temporarily installed a 1500w 120v hotplate along with my new Auber AW-1520 WIFI PID. Max temp on the hotplate was ≈220f. Set the PID to 200f then 210f and this is a screenshot. Why couldn't TSM install this in the first place? This is...

    Toggle switch

Those panel mount marine circuit breakers are nice. I ran across them when I worked on an 80s cabin cruiser electrical system. I used one as a power switch and circuit protection in my homemade Auber powered PID controller, can't beat them.

Howdy from the great white north!

Hello from RI. What PID did you end up with?If it's an Auber the re-wire for it is the same as a Smokin-It analog and is incredibly simple!

Please recommend a smoker for powdercoating

Auber PID + anything electric. If it has controller, mod it for power only. Heads up the insulation in most smokers is not really designed for higher temps.

    Beginning to hate my MES40

Do what most have already done. Get an third party PID (ex auber controller) and do the mailbox mod. Temps will be steady and you won't have to feed the beast every 20 min. And Yes, you'll get good eats!

    MES30 and auber, inaccurate temps?

10 degrees is not much between 2 sensors. The physical size and style of sensor makes a big difference. The best way to test the differential between the 2 is to tie them together with bare copper wire. One might lag behind the other but tied together they should match once they are saturated .

    Elk Summer Sausage smoking time

I have an auber pid in my mes 30... took temp swings of 25 degrees down to within 5 degrees of set point. Ryan

    Venison Ground Jerky( Bloody Mary)

I like the way you rolled it out in the bags. I have learned something new. Looks much easier than extruding it thru the stuffer or jerky shooter. Thanks. HT
