Interesting video. I like how they cut the pork to feed the grinder in one long strip. Could do that with my LEM #12 for sure. I noticed that the pork did not look chilled for grinding....wonder how the texture of the final sausage is?
Lem makes a Juicer for their grinder . The attachment looks like the Champion .
Wonder if it works the same ?
One is for the 1224 grinder , and one for the Big bite .
Yeah I here you. I just doing 1kg batches. I think i might try the bigger tube next time? I got some Lem casings for next time but pretty sure its just me. Just got to figure it out. Next batch going to be boudin. Also ordered some rubber suction feet for stuffer.
LEM 8# plates should work with my Weston 8#. Had a friend measure his and everything matches. My grinder does everything I ask of it, so no complaints there. The main issue I have is that I have to go elsewhere if I want plates other than the ones that came with the grinder.
Me too, sorta. I bought the same grinder for myself during LEM's sale after Thanksgiving and bought the stuffer just before Christmas. Haven't ordered any casings yet, but soon...
Just FYI, I got the dual grind head from LEM for a one pass through the 1/8” plate then through the juicer. It speeds things up. You can single pass the 1/8” plate on a standard grinder but need to cube it small-ish. I just cut long pieces about an inch or more wide. Half the knife work.
if you are not making sausage to save the fat and trimmings for, toss the fat in a pot and make tallow to cook your burgers in and donate the meat trimmings you dont keep to your dog or neighbor's dog? My dog is always lurking when im breaking down meat for some "luv". Im at costco every...
A buddy & I have a road trip planned to the NASCAR race in Sonoma in June, and we both like snack sticks, the perfect road trip snack. I've got an LEM #5 grinder, a 5 lb. stuffer, an LEM jerky gun and a Bronco smoker.
1st question: is a Bronco the right tool for the job- I see a lot of folks...
is it due to lack of room or just weight? I have my 22 grinder and a chamber vac on a Vevor 36x24 stainless work table that has castors. I just do not care to get a hernia and lose a drastic amount of counter space. The table is 32 inch high and is about an inch short of my counter. I roll it...
Jump in... the water is warm! I was anxious / nervous about it for quite some time, but once I started there was no turning back. I was using a hand me down Weston #8 grinder, but I ponied up the money for a 5 lb LEM stuffer. I have since bought a nice LEM #8 when a great sale presented itself...
My LEM 5lb (ordered from Amazon - I thought I was getting a clone, but ended up being an LEM shipped from Optics Planet....) came with clamps but just cheap little C-clamps. The kind you can get at a Harbor Freight for like 2 bucks. I'd give the link but the price went up 50$ and now matches...
Old-ish thread but I'm posting a big thank you anyway!
I came here wanting to find out what to look for in a grinder and sausage maker. This LEM looks like it'll do the trick. Thank you!!
Happy New Year!

I only have 3 more thoughts
1. Is the plate retainer ring nut staying snug?
2. I don't know what the drive connection is on a LEM. Is it intact and not slipping?
3. Do you put your entire grinder head including plate, knife and auger in the fridge? Don't freeze it or the meat will stick to all...
I've done jumped into a rabbit hole with my new Kitchenaid mixer. bought the metal meat grinder and was wondering if it's logical to grind my on burger. We only buy burger (they call it ground chuck) at our italian mrket where they rind it there. Typiclly we buy 5lbs at a time when it's on sale...
If you are going to use the juicer then you can cut the meat into about 1” cubes and single pass them through the 1/8” plate (that’s the final grind size you want) then through the juicer, or you can one pass through the 10mm plate then re grind through the 1/8” then the juicer. I bought the...
I just ground up an 11lb brisket yesterday. I have the same LEM #8 grinder and the new duel grind attachment. Made smashburgers today with it and it was great. Even the pup got some and enjoyed it.
I would recommend using the dual grind. It comes with two plates, the larger kidney shape for...
The hub is thicker (taller?) on the Cabelas versus the Weston. I'll wait until we get north and I have tools to trim.
I thought I remembered that someone had a grinder hear that the Cabelas (BPS) didn't fit.
Thanks for the reply.
Guys, let your dishwashers help with cleaning up. Cleaning up the grinder sucks, cleaning my stuffer sucks, cleaning the counters sucks, and cleaning the cutting boards sucks.
Now I can't help with the countertops, but everything else that fits in the dishwasher goes into the dishwasher.
DO...
