...a new 1650W burner I had. Added a fan I already had from a different build. Added a new exhaust and intake for my pellet tube. Temp prob port was added and it will all be ran from my pid. (Still brainstorming ways to mount the pid to the smoker) Will do some testing today if it ever stops...
...My main area of interest is sausage and jerky, although I don’t have a lot of batches under my belt. I have a MES 40 that I upgraded with a Auber PID and auber fan kit. I also use the masterbuilt slow smoker attachment. I’ve probably gotten about 99% of my knowledge on smoking from you all...
...out of the instrumentation and controls industry. I prob have more than enough spare parts laying around to make a couple pretty fancy overkill PID controllers to keep the box temp plus or minus one to one and a half degrees from a given set point that would also take in consideration...
Don't give up on that MES quite yet. They can be brought back to life with a simple rewire and the addition of PID controller which will turn it into a smoker much better than when you bought it.
...10 minutes, and that's only because I had to change my drill bit when getting the rivets out. Super simple job, and a quick run with my Auber PID says it is working as expected. I haven't tuned or tweaked anything on the PID yet, but wanted to get a quick confirmation that all systems were...
...I can do that with the Smoke Vault, given the challenges with flame height and not having the flame go out.
I have read the post by JC in GB (PID Controller Tutorial and Build Information) and I am intrigued by the idea of using a PID with the Smoke Vault (sans the propane :emoji_laughing...
...that it's an issue with the controller instead of something like the safety high limit switch which is a common failure point.
If so then the Auber PID is the simplest option and is less expensive in the end than getting all the tools and materials to build your first ever PID controller...
That's in the settings of the PID . On an Auber 1510 you would raise the value of I . Not sure if the Inkbird is the same .
I was wondering if it's rated for 1500 watt element .
...about something like that too!
Also there is just laying it on any of it's sides where the chords are not sticking out. I assume it's that PID on the milk crate.
Mine sits on top but elevated by 2 little pieces of plastic to give it some space between the controller and the smoker. The...
Here's the complicated explanation:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proportional%E2%80%93integral%E2%80%93derivative_controller
Basically it's a controller that can hold your temps within +/- 1℉ of your set temp when calibrated right. On the MES this done with a simple rewire that bypasses the...
...a master built electric smoker in which the electronics failed on it. I installed a new heating element / power supply kit to it and also had a PID controller built from another SM forum member however for some reason the PID controller is not working even after auto tuning and so on... With...
There's a few things you could do . One would be a 40 .
Another would be change your method .
Roll smoke for how everlong , then poach finish .
I don't do that much volume in my 30 . Works great for small batches , and improves the end result in my opinion .
Build a plywood box and use this...
