Update: I have been spritzing these with a water AV mix to keep moist. Here are some pics. Been using the INKBIRD probes on these and man am I glad I got them these things make tracking temps so much easier.
I like how to inside of the Guru has the air vent pointed down toward the bottom. I rednecked the InkBird to that. I hope the new style InkBird works better than the older ones...
Thanks for the replies and your experiences with the products.
My Inkbird lasted a long time so I'm not disappointed with the use I got out of it. Thermoworks has a strong reputation with their Thermapen, but I wasn't sure about the other products and have seen similar negative reviews...
...work to sear it on a grill then why not just throw it on for about 4 minutes per side to begin with and save yourself the 3 hours or so of using the SV…. I picked up the same inkbird SV a few years ago and haven’t used it yet no real reason why just haven’t m, I’m sure I will at some point though
...and freezers), 5 of which are 21-26 cu ft. Both for beer storage (homebrewer) and food storage (as everyone else). 2 are freezers with inkbird controllers so I can keep kegs of brew cold, but still set to 32f. There's an AC unit in the garage (2.5ton) and an AC for the kitchen (1.25 Ton)...
I've had the Inkbird original 1,000 watt ISV-100W since 2019. There are two more versions. All three are WiFi if you want to use it or just manually. The original has a vented square upper housing the other two are round and sealed. All 1,000 watts I believe.
My main one is an Inkbird ISV-200w. Someone the wife knows on facebook was selling a "New in box" off brand unit for 20 bucks. I said, "Grab it!"
Tested the new one out and it works fine but everything has to be set from the cooker VS the wifi capable Inkbird where I can have custom cooks...
...the pellet grill? That slow smoke at 200 really lets the fat render and gives such a deep, meaty flavor — nothing like pork bacon. Using two INKBIRD probes is smart too; can’t risk the ends cooking unevenly.
I’d probably end up trying both seasonings side by side like you did — garlic...
...has been out in the rain with no problems. Probes also hit the dishwasher without issues.
* The 2 probe grill bliss IP67(technically InkBird) and have it in the app with the others. This one is a little funny acting though. Readings aren't always matching with the others. But, I only use...
...the plastic inner door panel with a sheet of metal.
I used a 1400 watt 120 volt hotplate which has more then enough heating capacity. Inkbird PID controls and a SSR to switch the element on and off.
Cut openings in the top and bottom for vents and added a metal ammo can on the bottom for an...
...Christmas this year and finally had the time to break it out today. Found a good deal on a sirloin roast so thought, why not? Going over to my parents house later for dinner and my mom is kinda tough on what my dad gets to eat so beef it is. Got the wireless Inkbird in it to keep an eye on...
All the best to you and the Inkbird family. I have great success with your sous vide unts and multi lead thermometers in the kitchen. I added 3 more SV with WiFi for our club kitchen events. Just remember, this too shall pass like a case of gas! ? 🥴 PROST!
