Smoking a pork shoulder takes 12 hours. Does it matter when you put in the wood chips. Lets say I start smoking the pork around 12 right before I go to sleep and i put in some wood chips to start it off. and I put in more chips when I wake up after 7 and every hour after that.

Yeah, I went a little light on the rub because I picked up the new rub sweet mesquite seasoning from costco and have never tried. I'd rather be safe than sorry but you're right. The pork came out great but maybe next time it'll be awesome.

I shredded the 2nd one and then went to sleep.
Both the chicken and pork came out great. They're was nothing left of the chicken and everyone loved it, great smoky flavor

I just called Masterbuilt and it looks like I have one of the new 40's . The old ones were all stainless steel and the new ones are stainless steel in the front and everything else is black. And your right Ron, they upped the heating element from 800 to 1200.
I know cooked chicken, pork beef bones are dangerous for dogs. Does it make a difference if a pork shoulder bone that's been smoked for 12 hours make a difference.
Does anyone give the pork shoulder bone to their dogs?
