OK Joe Highland sealing mishaps with RTV

This was going to be my suggestion. I tried to do the same on my firebox and id dint work out. But when I attempted the same process on the lid itself it worked....I did do the PAM and saran wrap technique. Also at my other failed attempt this last time I also taped off the spot I didn't want...

    Not so usual PORK...

It's a layered rub...came out a little hot on the big end but still good. First layer was a honey and garlic powder with a little mesquite. Few other things that kicked up the heat a little much. Then after they rested it was a paprika based rub that's real good all purpose rub. Temp I was...

    Do mods help? Really?

PitBulMom if ya can look it up and get the competition pro 8125. It's a little heavier model than your every day CG. If mine wears out then I may purchase this because it's like what I want to make but will cost so much less. I've heard some really good things about it from a guy I know around...

    Do mods help? Really?

I agree FPMICH!! It's definitely a balancing act to get what we want out of these smokers...because in the end we have to remember 1 thing. We didn't buy a Yoder, Lang, or any other established heavy hitter offset smoker. We all have a cheap offset that with a little love and attention will give...

    UDS fire issues....HELP!

Ok so my basket is a charcoal grate out of a 22 inch Weber. So it's like 17.5 inches. It covers almost the whole bottom of my drum. I can fit almost. 20 lb bag of lump charcoal in it. It's large in diameter. So basically instead of dumping my lit coals into the middle and letting it burn...

    UDS fire issues....HELP!

Ok UDS members one and all...I'm having fire control issues. I can do the method I've seen online and read about where ya pour in unlit charcoal in your basket and then you pour in a chimney of lit coals in a spot dig out in the middle. So I do that and take some unit on top and close the lid...

    Insulated Offset

Ok so here is where I am at. After just finishing my first UDS and already planning my next I really got this itch and I'm talking a HUGE ITCH. I'm talking the kinda itch that looks like a 30" diameter by 60" trailer mounted INSULATED round offset smoker! Big itch right? So I haven't had the...

    Concrete board smoker build

Ahh that's great I'm sure that is better anyways they do make a high heat glue but it's expensive. Also what brand of concrete board did you use because the stuff I looked at had the mesh stuff towards the outside of the boards which I didn't like!
