So how are you guys getting temperature probes into the uds? Until no I have just been putting them through the hole in the lid, but this would require me to unplug the probes to remove the lid.
I need to figure out a way to put the probes into the smoker so I dont' have to disconnect them...
lol at this thread....I am in the process of building a table that fits around the UDS...it will be similar to the pis posted. I will post pics when I am done. it might take a while as I dont' have much free time....
Well a little update. I used a basic rub I got off the internet, and a butter/beer injection my MIL gave me. the fryer worked great, but I think I am going to get a better thermometer.
I think I need to play around with the rub and injection. Everyone loved it, but I was not really happy...
Not sure where this thread would go, but I just got a turkey fryer, and am frying a turkey for fathers day. I am looking for any good rubs or injections for it.
so I forgot to cover up my uds this weekend after smoking some ribs......it has rained all week, now in the bottom of my uds I have a mixture of rainwater/charcoal ash. basically sluge.
what woudl you do?
I am thinking of putting some charcoal in to warm it up and dry it out then cleaning...
perfect timing....I was wondering about this too.....going to try smoking a pork butt for the superbowl party. temp is supposed to be a high of 24. blankets are a good idea.
going to try a pork but then some abts while it is resting. we will see how it goes I have a uds and it is supposed to be between 5-32 degrees Sunday in my neck of the woods.
Little Porgy's In champaign, Il. they have the best sauce ever. but like others have said, the owner will not give it out. I have thought about tryign to get a part time job there to get the recipe. I would pay a lot of money to get the recipe.
I don't know much about your region of the us but do you have any apple orchards there?? Give them a call I bet they would love to get rid of some wood.
