Weekend smoke, Pork Loin, sweet goodies and Weber build

Nice looking cook! I'm going to have to give a pork loin a try soon... I've heard they are terrific. Also, congrats on the Weber! I picked up a EP-330 last fall (Brick Red to match my Performer) and I love it, excellent choice.

    MES 30 - Model Confusion

I used mine (20070910) for the first time in 11* degree weather, never varied more than 5 degrees high/low, very impressed so far.

FIRST TIME SMOKIN!!!! ----------- Master Forge Vertical Charcoal Smoker

I just did my first one last Saturday, here's my experience (using the Masterbuilt 20070910). 1. I hear pork butts seem to be more forgiving. 2. I opted to not use any water. 3. I used a mix of mostly apple with some alder, but whatever you like - sounds like you're prepared! 180 seems...

    Maverick ET-732

BBQ probe is the shorter one and is used to determine the temp of the BBQ (smoker/grill/etc). It attaches to the clip that will attach to the rack or grate. The food or meat probe goes on the other side and is the longer of the two, this would go into the meat itself to determine the internal...

Weber kettle - Would you use one of the A-Maze-N models, or the Smokenator??

I have a Weber Performer, my solution was to buy a Masterbuilt smoker, but did consider the Smokenator as an option. Seems to work well, and well enough that some people have tried making their own. The main problem is that the water needs to be refilled regularly since it's pretty small. If...

first smoke on the mes 30

I'd say it's probably done now. So, how'd it turn out - what temp did you pull it out at?

    Gas Grill suggestions

I'll add to the Weber list of recommendations... I have 3 now and love them! My latest is a Weber Genesis, LOVE IT!!!. The Spirit might be in your price range, or look on Craigslist... some great deals can be had, just depends on your needs, but I'd recommend at 3 burner for more versatility if...

Masterbuilt First Timer and First Pulled Pork

Thanks! That brings up a question I have... does the built-in system not work for some? Seems to be doing plenty good on mine, but I see a lot of people adding the cold smoker kit or the AMNPS.

Masterbuilt First Timer and First Pulled Pork

Thanks guys! I had a great time with it and look forward to many more cooks over the years... just trying to decide what to do next. (As I browse the forum for ideas...) :)

Masterbuilt First Timer and First Pulled Pork

Thanks for the tip, good to know I can use chunks effectively as that's what I normally use on my grill. I got the electric 20070910 model. 8am, start of the cook, with Maverick 732 keeping me informed:
